This was one of the best places during our visit. Tom is a nature lover who has preserved the forest and has made such beautiful gardens and is so eager to explain about his gardens how things work there. He has so much knowledge about nature, the trees ,the shrubs and everything over there. He has tried to use each and everything towards nature that people would throw away for landfills. Such a wonderful host. They have a small shop where his wife creates beautiful artifacts. Specially dragons. A small tree house right in the midst of forest. All you can hear is nature. Birds, wind. My family, specially my kids enjoyed it a lot. You can see the hardwork tom and his wife has put in. Thank you for being such a wonderful host Tom and all the best with your passion for mother nature and your excitement to entertain visitors...

Dee and Tom, the phenomenal hosts, owners and caretakers of this very special piece of land at Rural Rootz, welcomed us with graciousness and hospitality our first time here! The hiking trails they have carved out are some of the most uniquely beautiful and breathtaking trails we have ever hiked. The gardens, the gift shop, the walking labyrinths, the Treehouse, are full of whimsy and fine craftsmanship, such to tickle your creative side. Most noteworthy, this place is an oasis for those needing some forest bathing to unwind from stress and connect more deeply to one's self. In just minutes of being there, you will start to breathe more deeply, smile a lot more and remember what it's all about to be ALIVE! Thanks again for a great first visit!...

When you visit Rural Rootz Nature Reserve you get the opportunity to meet two amazing human beings- Dee and Tom. They have dedicated the majority of their lives in preserving hundreds of acres of land for future generations to enjoy without the risk of having it ever developed commercially. The gardens are a labour of love and the property has been developed over the years with nature trails of varying difficulty. A side Bruce Trail runs through their property that is also well maintained. There is no entrance fee and donations are voluntary. The art shop has paintings of nature and Dragon themes by Dee on sale. Located a few minutes drive from downtown Wiarton, Rural Rootz, is a must visit if you are in the Wiarton area.
