This is about the kayak rentals only and not the campgrounds or the falls themselves.
We have rented from the provincial park over the last several years and this is the first time I have had any complaints. The kayaks in the past, for rentals were decent enough but the condition of the ones they had available this year is horrendous! I looked at a few of them trying to find one with a seat in decent condition for my elderly mother who enjoys getting out on the river with me. All of them were in some form of disrepair and the back supports either falling right off or not in a good enough condition to support you. The seat parts weren't in much better condition but luckily she brings a gel seat cushion so that wasn't too much of a concern.
The price for two hours is $30 and definitely not worth it for the condition of their single kayaks.
Also, one of the staff members handling the canoes at the time started questioning me if I had a life jacket. I was clearly in my own boat but mentioned it to her just in case she didn't realize it and she said I still had to put one on. First, it is my kayak and it is up to me whether or not I have the safety equipment which includes a PFD. Secondly you legally have to have one accessible but it does not have to be on. Instead of worrying about an experienced kayaker with their own gear she should be worrying about the people renting who don't have a clue what to do including how to paddle and are starting to float towards the fast moving current and the falls. In fact I had to save a lady who had started to go over the markers and was being pulled by the faster current on the other side of them. She was not comfortable going over the markers and paddling hard while staying close to the edge of the bridge. None of the staff were even paying attention! I paddled over and had her grab the handle on the back of my boat while I dug in hard against the current and pulled her back and to safer waters.
The only reason I gave two stars is because they a dock with a kayak launch which makes getting in and out of the kayaks much easier.
I definitely wouldn't recommend renting from them unless you really don't care about the kayak condition and are inexperienced enough not to care.
Also the paddle boats we passed people using are also clearly on poor condition.one young couple we saw were leaning back so bad and when I suggested he straighten the aeat, he did attempt to but it was clear that...
