With the limited online presence and their lack of a website, you might be underestimating this place the way I did. Trust me on this - go check it out.

Prehistoric world is maybe the most astounding independent art display in Ontario -- 20 acres of increasingly impressive and accurate (seemingly, I'm not an expert) concrete dinosaur sculptures along a scenic stone path through the woods. I attended late October, and the fall colours made the already vibrantly coloured dinosaurs even more breathtaking. I don't have kids, but all the kids I saw looked to be having a blast, and it made me feel like a kid again myself.

The entire operation has been run by a man named Paul and his brother (I didn't get his name) for over forty years, and they've done absolutely everything themselves -- Paul prides himself on having taken no help from investors, the government, or even friends. It's essentially their backyard -- they constructed all the sculptures themselves and do all the maintenance.

None of the one star reviews are worth your time - every single one falls into one of three categories:

  1. People who didn't call ahead
  2. People who didnt bring cash
  3. People who wanted a theme park

If none of these things apply to you, you'll have an incredible time. Bring cash (admission is 10$ for adults, less for kids), and call ahead to make sure they're open -- again, it's just the two guys running it, so I'm sure there are times it says they're open on Google that they just can't be.

Yes the only bathroom is a port-a-potty. Get over it.

No, there are no rides or concessions or anything. It's not a theme park. It's essentially a guided hike with some of the most impressive sculptures I've...

This place is incredible! Everything was made by 2 brothers and none of the work was outsourced. It's a gorgeous "stone" walkway through their backyard. Yep backyard... but it's so much more than that! For any Dino loving child this is a dream come true! Life-size sculptures that you can touch and take photos with. There's a fossil dig area for kids to find the fossils. The craftsmanship on these sculptures is phenomenal, truly awe-inspiring! Each sculpture has a plaque describing the creature and the Era in which it lived. (Although these need a little work as some are damaged from weather etc... they are aware and are making efforts to replace them). The landscaping job done to move ferns and hosta to add to the displays was amazingly done. Truly a place that should be on more families radar! Pack a picnic and have it amongst the dinosaurs as there are picnic areas available! A beautiful family outing that won't break the bank! $10 an adult... kids are $8 I believe??? I cannot remember but regardless is worth the...

My adult daughter came upon this place by accident then brought me to see it as a mystery destination. We had a ball! It's an easy drive from Ottawa and a lovely walk. Some of the sculptures are in a grassy lawn area, then the paved path takes you through a maintained woodland with lots more. There's a signpost for each with interesting info (which the operators know are in need of updating). You are welcome to use the lawn-area picnic tables, bring your own food & drink. There are no food services or gift shop. Washroom facilities are two large clean porta-potties in the parking lot. Free parking. Reasonable admission, given you can stay as long as you like. $10 adult, $8 senior, we didn't have a child with us so didn't take note of that price. Cash only. Well worth the price in our opinion. Who doesn't love dinosaurs? This has been in business for at least 35 years, run by two brothers who made the near life-sized sculptures....

We took our 6 and almost 3 year old grandchildren today. It seemed quiet, but it had just stopped raining when we arrived. This place is amazing. Its a path through the woods with different dinosaurs statues, and a little info at each one. This is not a money grab. There is no gift shop, or food, there is a large picnic area so you can bring in your own food. It was $10 for adults, and $6 (i think). For the 6 year old. 3 and under are free. The kids ran from spot to spot, it was relaxed and overall a terrific afternoon. I definitely recommend it if you have someone who loves dinosaurs, or if you're just looking for something fun and affordable to do with your little ones. The only thing you may need to know is there are porta potties in the parking lot, and that's all i saw for bathrooms. Our potty training grandson made it through no problem. Bring some hand sanitizer, there is some inside the building, but not in the porta potties.
