Another beautiful but mismanaged Parks of the St Lawrence public access recreation destination. Sadly, the concept of multiple use seems lost on the government appointed management team. This past weekend, I was startled by the loud sounds of generator powered amplified call to prayer at the ad hoc Mosque erected in the east playing field- resplendent with waving Palestinian flags? I wonder how the clearly Jewish families I filmed packing up and leaving felt? I also filmed many other non-Muslims and they were clearly not impressed with a public rest and relaxation destination being taken over by one group at the expense of all others. Tells me that there is limited number of people allowed on the beach and would need to arrive at 9:30 to have a chance to get in at 10. We arrive before 9:30 and we’re told they were at capacity as of our vehicle! Apparently people come at 8 to get a spot. The option is to try our luck at a nearby beach. We manage to find a space near the lake just to picnic but we’re asked to pay for a day pass. This is to picnic on a dirty picnic area with NO garbage bins, NO bathrooms, NO picnic...
Read moreNice little beach with a huge picnic area and lot of parking for its size. Water is clean and clear but unfortunately rocky close to shore. It's shallow for kids in the beginning and gets deep after a few meters. Nice views and washroom facilities available on site. BBQ allowed on site as well and the area is well maintained and clean. Would highly recommend...
