EDITUpdate: Updated Review: Phil called to discuss my review and apologized that I felt the way I did, but mentioned that my “reality was different from his,” which was very upsetting. My 79-year-old mother was with me at the time of the call and also told him he was being rude.
Regarding the food portions, he did apologize, but I stated nothing could be done now. I explained that my daughter’s wedding day had been stressful and upsetting, but when I mentioned the issue about the extra food, he immediately changed the subject — so I’m not sure where that conversation went.
Phil also mentioned that all the emails exchanged after the original contract were considered part of the contract, so be aware of that, as times were changed just five days before the wedding.
Unfortunately, not only did Phil upset the bridal party before the event, but on the call he also upset both myself and my mother by insisting that my reality “wasn’t real.”
We rented this property for a small wedding, and while the grounds were beautiful and the food itself was excellent, the overall experience was disappointing and very stressful.
Our contract clearly stated that we would have access the day before for setup and rehearsal, as well as the day after for cleanup. Unfortunately, because there was a wedding the evening before ours, we were not allowed in until around 10 a.m. the morning of our event, which left us scrambling to set up. We were also told we could use the Harvest Room to get ready, but it was locked until noon, forcing us to prepare in the bathroom instead.
The ceremony chairs were not what was shown on the website. The photos featured beautiful wooden chairs suitable for an outdoor ceremony, but what we received were plain black folding chairs. Even small details like the sign at the road had to be changed last minute because it wasn’t prepared as promised.
When we couldn’t locate some decoration items, we tried to get help from Phil and Cathy, but no one could be found, leaving us to rush through last-minute fixes on our own.
The meal service, while on time, was another disappointment. Portions were very small, guests were told they couldn’t have seconds, and despite having paid for two no-shows, the extra food was simply cleared away rather than offered to us. Plates were being removed while some guests were still eating.
Phil, in particular, came across as rude and dismissive, and we felt pressured to wrap things up far earlier than agreed. Although our contract said we had the venue until 11 p.m., chairs were being folded and packed up by 8 p.m.—while guests were still dancing. We ended up cleaning everything ourselves that night and leaving by 10 p.m. (despite Phil later emailing to thank us for doing a great job cleaning up).
Overall, while the setting and food were lovely, the lack of professionalism, communication, and respect for our contract left us extremely disappointed on what should have been a joyful and...
Read moreMy partner and I booked this venue for our wedding in September this year.
The venue itself is beautiful and very well maintained — perfect for both indoor and outdoor weddings. The menu is impressive, and the food quality was good as well. However, we faced quite a few hiccups from the planning stage through to the actual execution.
This venue could easily have been a 5-star experience, but because of how things unfolded on our wedding day, we were left quite stressed instead of being able to enjoy the moment. We were only allowed to set up on the day of the wedding instead of the day before, which added unnecessary pressure and chaos to an already busy day.
Additionally, several of our guests mentioned that while the food tasted great, the portions were very small. I would have understood if that was to reduce food waste, but our guests were refused refills — which was disappointing. It was especially disheartening to learn that, despite paying per guest and having a few no-shows, the venue seemed to skimp on food, and none of the leftovers were...
Read moreWe just got married at Arrowwood farm and it was a beautiful day and the wedding of my dreams! The power was apparently out at the venue ALL DAY (because of that crazy thunderstorm) and I didn't notice it at all because the Moddles took care of it with a tractor-powered generator! These guys were helpful and responsive to my MANY wedding detail emails and the guests loved the venue. It was so cool to see guests in the distance finding different shady spots to sit or visiting the turkeys and sheep. The venue itself required almost no decor because it is naturally beautiful on its own, and the food we had (pulled pork, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, hummingbird cake and blueberry custard pie) were delicious; best pulled pork I've ever had. I highly recommend this venue for weddings if you're looking for a beautiful outdoor or indoor space with a natural vibe, and the Moddles were so easy and delightful to work with, truly going above and beyond to make our day perfect and special. Thanks for all your hard work...
