Old Shipyard Beach Campground — Attraction in Spencers Island

Since traveling for a little over a year this is my favorite campground so far!! Noreen and Bob are such a fantastic couple!! Bob says relax, have fun and don't worry about anything😀 All the while Noreen and Bob spend the day working answering calls, making reservations, keeping the cabins clean and ready for new guests, cutting and delivering wood and many other chores. Bob says that Noreen has a gallon of white out which she uses to re-arrange sites because they stay so busy. YES, "white out" lol. You don't ever have to worry about the computer going down because everything is done by hand the old school way! These are 2 of the sweetest people I've ever met and hands down my favorite campground😁 Everybody gets their own picnic table and fire pit and at night all you see our camp fires down-the-line, it's pretty cool! Camped in a 35” motorhome. We are self-contained so cannot comment on restrooms/shower facilities. Camped in site #3 – full hookup Pros- All sites have a view of the bay – incredible view. Very nice and hard working owners – Noreen approached me right away when we drove in, introduced herself and checked us in quickly. Very well maintained. Verizon and T-Mobile worked well Great value Spacious sites – you don’t feel like you are on top of your neighbor. Very quiet. Everyone is very friendly. It’s quiet most of the time. Site is very level. No leveling required.

Neutral or Con – Laundry on site with 3 washers and dryers. Campground is in a very remote location. Worth the drive but it’s an hour from Amherst. Eventually figured out how to get WiFi on PC but not on phone. And then it’s...

This campground is in an amazing location right on the beach with a great view and an operating lighthouse.

We only were able to stay one night but definitely would recommend the property.

While the campground has been around for many years it is now under new ownership and it will be interesting to see how the new owners continue to improve the property.

The campsites are standard for a beach front campground with lots of beach front footage for everyone to have a campfire on the beach.

During our visit we were lucky enough to have a site adjacent to the lighthouse. The atmosphere and view was second to none.

The new owners are excited and energized to be taking on this new endeavor and I expect this site will continue to get better under their management.
