šŸŽ„@fuelforthesole 惻惻惻 4-Day Itinerary for North Vancouver Island šŸš—šŸ’ØšŸ’Ø As 97% of Vancouver Island’s population lives in the southern half, north Vancouver Island has become an escape for outdoor recreationists in search of solitude. This region begins past Campbell River and stretches to the tippy top, Port Hardy. ā€¼ļøNote that when exploring this massive area, there are very limited services, so plan accordingly. ā€¼ļøCarry all the necessary safety gear, map out gas stations, download maps/carry paper maps and carry a satellite phone/GPS messenger. šŸ“† Best times to visit are between May and September. ✨ Day 1 - Telegraph Cove āœļø This tiny and picturesque village is wrapped around a snug little bay and known for its whale watching and fishing. ✨ Day 2 - Port Alice āœļø Key Stops: - Alice Lake Loop (Eternal Fountain, the Vanishing River and the Devil’s Bath) - The Seawalk - Foggy Mountain Coffee - Walk-out Island ✨ Day 3 - Port Hardy āœļø Key Stops: - Hardy Bay Seawall - Dakota 576 Plane Crash Trail (moderate 4.2-km out-and-back trail) āš ļø This is a War Memorial so please respect it and do not touch or climb on the plane. - Bear and whale watching tours - God’s Pocket Marine Provincial Park ✨ Day 4 - Cape Scott Provincial Park āœļø Key Stops: - Scarlet Ibis Pub in Holberg - San Josef Bay (easy, 8.7 km out-and-back) - Cape Scott Trail (hard, 48.4 km, can be done over 3 days) - North Coast Trail (hard, 44.4 km, can be done over 6 days) āš ļø The road from Port Hardy to Cape Scott is a 70 km, 2 hour drive down a rough logging road. Absolutely loved our day at Alice Lake! Just an hour's drive from downtown Vancouver. Free parking available but you need to be there early especially in summer time. Although there were no picnic tables available, the stunning natural surroundings more than made up for it. We spent our day paddleboarding and chilling by the beach with friends. The sunny weather added to the experience, making it a perfect outing. While we didn't get a chance to explore the trails and campgrounds, it's on our list for the next visit. Note that this is not a cosy beach during summer. Pretty busy! however we enjoyed our time.

A popular camping spot in the summer, Alice Lake contains a network of hiking trails perfect for those looking to get outdoors for a nice walk. The Four Lakes Trail offers a scenic easy hike that loops around the park and passes lakes, creeks, and groves of Cedar, Hemlock, and Douglas Fir trees. There are two beach areas with sandy beach, swimming floats and change houses. The water is usually warm in the summer months. Swimming areas marked by floats. A floating dock is available at South Beach, a short walk from the campground. There areĀ no lifeguardsĀ on duty at...

Alice lake is an amazing and peaceful picnic place with a family. I went here with my family which there were no crowds unlike other picnic places. The lake was clean and fun to swim. I recommend coming here during weekdays especially in summer because there are not a lot of people visiting the place which can for sure be a peaceful moment with...
