Was driving through Ontario Monday morning, on our way to Toronto and stumbled upon 13th Street Winery. This place, as a whole, is fantastic. We started in the bakery/ goods shop. We ordered a peach/bourbon tart, a nanaimo bar, and an oatmeal fudge brownie. All three treats were decadent and well prepared. The oatmeal fudge brownie and the tart were our 2 favorites. The tart crust was buttery and flaky. The brownie was rich and sweet; the oatmeal did not overpower or dry out the sweet. We then proceeded into the winery for a tasting flight. Nick was our host and he did an incredible job. There was seamless conversation as Nick led us through our desired flights. We enjoyed all of the wine we had. The only downfall is that we were not planning to bring wine back with us, so we could only afford to buy one bottle (more would be desired in the future). Upon finishing our tasting and wrapping up with Nick, we strolled through the winery/vineyard grounds. We stopped to check out all of the cool artwork on the property and eventually made our way into the art gallery. I don't recall the gentleman that greeted us, but he was friendly, chipper, and explained everything in the gallery. Again, had we planned appropriately we probably would have brought some artwork home. I would 10/10 recommend 13th Street Winery to anyone driving through Ontario wine region. And I would promote Nick as the person to...
Read more🤪🤑What are all these 5 stars reviews about?!... Overcrowded on Saturdays....line ups for everything..very uncomforable visit..limited number of washroom ..like 2 or 3....considering how many people drink glasses and bottles of wine on promisses, the whole public washroom facility should be built by the owners if they wanna sell and serve alcohol on their premises?!
Arts displays of questionable quality with rediculous prices displayed.
Parking available, but falling wallnuts/chestnuts can cause damage to your vehicles!!!!!!
One would expect the prices of wine bottles to be lower, since the customer buys directly from them..Not the case!!!!
Asking for a free wine sampling felt like begging for the 2 spoons they pour into the glass for you..be ready to pay $12-16 for a glass and then more for the bottles...
!!!!!!Quite dissapointing visit...solve the problem with washrooms ...so people do not form long lines in front of the washroom doors, splitting the wine store and wine testing area( not much of free wine testing to talk about here) into two...
I won't be back, so do not care, but for the sake of others who want to support your business....get them at least more washrooms to use...or limit the amount of people with access to your property....
if you want people's money...then take care of...
Read more13th Street Winery is definitely a unique spot! Let me tell you, the grounds are absolutely beautiful – perfect for a stroll. They've got a fantastic selection of wines, and I can see why they've won awards. Definitely worth picking up a bottle or two. Plus, the food and novelty items? Wow! Talk about a treasure trove. You can find some really interesting kitchen gadgets and spices you won't see anywhere else.
The service was top-notch, super professional and quick. No complaints there. And the prices for the wine and general stuff seemed reasonable. But, I have to be honest, some of the specialty food and kitchen items? They're definitely on the pricey side. Feels like they're aiming for a clientele that doesn't blink an eye at the cost.
We decided to try the butter tarts, since everyone raves about them. The crust? Seriously, the best I've ever had. Flaky, buttery perfection. The filling, though, was pretty standard. Good, but nothing to write home about.
Oh, and the art sculptures! Definitely worth a wander around to check them out.
Overall, I'd give 13th Street Winery a solid 3 stars. It's a beautiful place with great wine and service, but be prepared for some sticker shock on certain items, and don't go expecting a mind-blowing butter...
