This is the best spot to watch one of the locks in action along the Welland Canal, and all while learning about it at the same time. There is an elevated viewing platform to watch the ships go through the lock. The museum is excellent and full of information about the Welland Canal, the history of the area, and includes the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame. The building also has clean and accessible washrooms. Don't forget to also stop by the Welland Canal Fallen Workers Memorial that is just around the corner along the Welland Canal Trail. Read moreInteresting place to visit and see how the Locks work. We were there about 45 minutes to an hour and saw 2 large ships go through. There is an outdoor upper lookout you can reach through a stairwell on each end. It was a bit busy on the lookout however we seemed to be there as some tour groups were there too. Small museum is open to the public with free admission. Interesting and interactive areas that show the mechanics behind the Locks, as well as other history of the area.
