This is the best spot to watch one of the locks in action along the Welland Canal, and all while learning about it at the same time. There is an elevated viewing platform to watch the ships go through the lock. The museum is excellent and full of information about the Welland Canal, the history of the area, and includes the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame. The building also has clean and accessible washrooms. Don't forget to also stop by the Welland Canal Fallen Workers Memorial that is just around the corner along the Welland Canal Trail. It is a beautiful work of art and memorial with all the names of workers who lost their lives helping to to build the canal.

Interesting place to visit and see how the Locks work. We were there about 45 minutes to an hour and saw 2 large ships go through. There is an outdoor upper lookout you can reach through a stairwell on each end. It was a bit busy on the lookout however we seemed to be there as some tour groups were there too. Small museum is open to the public with free admission. Interesting and interactive areas that show the mechanics behind the Locks, as well as other history of the area. Kids enjoyed trying lacrosse and playing some of the interactive games. Sanitizer pumps throughout, and a washroom. Didn’t see anywhere to buy a meal, and there was a small gift shop.

What a wonderful place to visit! The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. The displays were very interesting. We watched a ship come in on the viewing platform and a volunteer came out and provided information and answered questions. She was wonderful!! There is an elevator inside the building that made the viewing platform accessible. Would definitely recommend a visit here!!

My dog Rashnu didn’t like the little ice creams and the boat gating, it’s to loud and the water upsets Rashnu.

Rashnu gasped at how fast the water does the lifting and started to pull as a result of this, this shifted me into the ice cream shop which had the tiger striping ice creams, Rashnu won’t let me walk him there any longer, boats are not the thing for the Rashnu and his...
