The staff were rude to me on multiple occasions. The store is also full of bootleg products which they fail to adequately acknowledge (which wouldn’t be a problem if they consistently mentioned it, but the problem is that the plush is most attractive to children/parents who don’t know the difference, and it is VERY expensive for fake product). If people knew what they were buying it wouldn’t matter. There were signs on one of two plush displays mentioning the bootlegs but there were bootleg materials scattered around the store so it became unclear and I could see how a parent who isn’t “in the know” would get confused. They also have bootleg amiibo card bundles you can buy right next to authentic Animal Crossing amiibo packs. Very confusing for a buyer and makes one feel insecure about purchasing. At the front they have a ton of Japanese import re-ment figures. These seem to be genuine from what I have purchased and are very novel for the area. They have a selection of switch games which they are known for, with some other games for retro devices but again there were bootleg N64 cartridges in the display case with genuine Wii games. This again, feels predatory to parents or people who don’t know better. Bootleg N64 cartridges CAN run on an N64, but they can have game breaking problems depending on the title of game, since games like Pokémon Stadium 2 have extra parts inside their cartridges to help the game function that is missing from bootleg copies of the game.
All in all, I do like to go in and explore this store as it is PACKED with things that nerds like me will enjoy. However, the lack of clear distinction and particularly, the rudeness of staff make the experience feel...
Read more90% of the products are heavily sun-damaged and he operates an eBay store (gamestoreonline) where some of the items are up to 50% off the bricks & mortar store label price.
Truly an offensive atmosphere for real collectors; will try to convince you opened, decades old games are 'mint-in box' or 'brand new'. Offers no exchange/money for Mario/Sonic branded games that he will re-sell for $30-$40 dollars (but will offer to take them off you for $0 anyway and describe them as 'non-valuable'). I'm not talking Sonic Spinball or Mario Sports Game X, either. The old game +$5 deal is also a rip-off, as he will essentially restrict you from picking anything but 'Dave Mirra BMX' or 'BRATZ'-like branded games (essentially games you could get brand new at wal-mart for $10 off the discount rack). The store is almost as bad, or as bad as, other local store Netherworld.
Total waste of time unless you want to get seriously ripped-off, or just want some sports/hockey...
Read moreIf I could give this store a 0 for customer service I would. Visiting Newfoundland with my family I was excited to pick up some hockey cards as a card collector. But the young girl who worked there was so rude from the time we walked in until we walked out. With a not even a “hello” but a “we’re closing in 15 minutes”, it takes 5 minutes to pick out hockey cards. I was ready to drop $300 or more on series two hockey cards and the extended boxes. She said she couldn’t sell me the boxes. Then she was rude while I was picking out a few packs. When you’re in customer service and retail you really should go out of your way to make sales. Unless the owner doesn’t want to profit but by the look of it he could use the money. She was rude to the ladies who came in behind us also.I never leave reviews but had to share the word as it has left a sour taste in my mouth. I’ve been to card stores all over north america and this was the worst. Never will...
