During the morning Harbourside Park is a tranquil urban spot with scenic views of the harbour. If you are staying in the area, it is the perfect place to start your day before heading off to explore St Johns. The park becomes quite active and lively in the afternoon onwards with locals and travellers alike using the spot to hangout. There is a local coffee shop, Madras Cafe (183 Duckworth) located at the top of the park close to the War Memorial that serves sandwiches, pastries, coffee, tea, among many other choices. The cafe is open at 8:00am or 9:00am depending on the day of the week.

Its a relatively small area. Especially compared to what I am used to in Halifax. But it was peaceful and quiet (unlike Halifax), with great views of the harbour, and many memorials, and displays such as the bronze statue and historic write-up display of the beloved "Newfoundland Dog". With so much waterfrontage, I was surprised at how little the city has allocated for public use.

The newly renovated memorial is accessible and a must-see for those with a sense of military history and sacrifice. The tomb of the unknown soldier was added 1 July 2024. No restrooms. Be sure to visit along Water Street to see names of groups whose members are hinoured and remembered.

Beautiful place. Best spot on water st for relaxing ! When I was 7 I climbed the anchor and fell off and nearly smashed my skull and everybody crowded me asking if I was okay and I felt really embarrassed so I always think about that little story when I go LOL but I love this spot.

When you find yourself in St.John's site seeing we recommend you take time to check this park. Located by the water and has alot of historic information about the harbour and the city. Good landscaping and sculptures to enjoy, bench seats to relax and watch ships coming and going.

Beautiful community spot with easy access to downtown! Snow can accumulate a bit in winter but it’s still mostly accessible. Dog-friendly and family-friendly. Amazing start/end spot for social justice events like marches in support of Palestine.
