I donât suggest anyone shop here , WORST SERVICE POSSIBLE. Iâve had the worst experience of my life with this place ,
my first experience was last year, I paid on a dining set until I had it paid off as a gift for my mother for Motherâs Day , all I asked of them was it be delivered on time for that weekend so I arranged everything so that it would be. You would think that this would be easy enough, it gets to the location and there are legs missing for the table and the table was damaged. I was told (we can order you the legs but it will take 3-4 weeks or give you your money back) given the fact that it was bought as a gift I didnât want to wait 3-4 weeks so obviously I got my money back as the table was damaged anyway. After paying on a table for a 2 month and finally being able to get it that is un acceptable.
my second experience was this past Friday, I have been in the market for a new bed for a while , I went to all furniture stores in St. Johnâs to get pricing and then decided (maybe I should give them the benefit of the doubt and try again) so I went in and had a look and they offered me a full bed at a decent price, I expressed my concern because of what happened before but was assured â it wouldnât happen again.â The bed was delivered the same day and fairly quickly as I had to leave to go out of town that day. They got me to sign for it before even taking it off the truck, brought it in for me and left. I assumed it was all there (as you would ) I get home today and go to put it together, take the head board out of the box, THATâS DAMAGED and NO FOOT BOARD , FRAME OR RAILS. I am angry, upset and completely disgusted with the service from surplus despite being re assured âeverything would be fineâ . Fool me once shame on you , fool me twice shame on me I guess. I also assume I will have a fight on my hands Monday morning when I call again to try and have this resolved as I left a message but probably wonât have my call returned. I purchased a bed from them 5 years ago and the mattress and box spring had a 10 year warranty. The mattress is now full of dips and dents and is extremely uncomfortable now so I decided to check on the warranty. I started this process back in March of this year. They emailed me the warranty package and I followed the instructions and sent them the photos. The guy at the store said he received the photos and he would forward them to the warranty department and it would take two weeks. So I waited the two weeks and received no response. So I called them again at week 3 for an update. The response I got was that apparently thereâs only one person who handles warranty claims for the whole country and theyâre very behind. I thought to myself that sounded like a load of crap. But without anyway to prove it I couldnât call them out on it. He said that he would email the warranty department to check for an update and he would get back to me. As the MONTHS passed it was the same story over and over again. The latest excuse when I called last week(June 25th) was that the person who handles warranty claims has been sick and off for sometime and no one at the store was informed of this. Frankly I don't believe a word that comes out of their mouths at this point and Iâm fed up with constant excuses. I just want to know if my GD bed is covered under warranty or not. I would stay as far away from this place as possible. At this point I would rather take a dirty old stained mattress from the dump than get a brand new free one from them. The day started off well but slowly got worse when we couldn't find any great mattress', and some of the sales people were not great. After we had lunch we went to one last store for our last attempt. I walked in to Surplus and immediately was greated by a lady named Amanda. Let me just say that after meeting her my shopping experience went through the roof. The staff were friendly, there was music playing which made me feel like I could actually talk, instead of being quiet like some of the other stores. Amanda showed us some mattresses and the very first one we lied on was perfect! She said it was in stock, and the warehouse was open until 8 so it was so convenient for pickup! With the mattress came the box spring and bed rail. She also sold me a baby leather chair, a coat rack, an accent chair, a mirror, an accent pillow, mattress cover, and a pillow cover. My boyfriend even put a sectional on Layway! But here's the thing, I never felt forced into buying this like other places. Her personality and demeanor towards me made me WANT to buy more! I spent $2200 TOTAL the same amount I would have spent at another place just for a king mattress and box springs. Instead I spent the same amount at Surplus and got all this extra stuff!
