I am a little perplexed by the reviews that say the beach is clean and beautiful. We found several large piles of trash (mostly ropes, broken lobster traps, etc.) on the beach just west of the historical marker. I have never seen so much trash on a public beach. The boardwalk from the park area to the beach as well as the picnic tables at the park were mostly broken down. However, it was still worth a visit because it is a long beach with a clifflike backdrop. The historical marker is also very interesting.

This is a very nice Beach with awesome views of the highlands in the background. There is a little Brook the enters the ocean on this beach which leaves a nice little fresh water pool to swim in. There is a lot of history at this beach hence the name. It's hard not to dream when your there thinking about when Cabot actually landed. You can visit this beach on your way visiting Meat Cove. If you really want to get adventurous you can walk the beach to Dingwall.

Been going here for years! The beach is a pebbly sand with rocks as you enter the water, I recommend water shoes. The sand can get really hot as well. The view makes the whole experience worth it. There are picnic tables on the grass part as well as outhouses.

The park is very large so there is alot of space. Picnic tables and some shade from evergreen trees around the edge of the park. A beautiful, amazing sandy beach, with large waves to splash in at times! BUT BE CAREFUL! Local people warn about a small drop off about five feet out and a, VERY STRONG, undertow! Only very experienced swimmers should swim out a little and I think, never alone! But you must experience it with someone or more than one person! Enjoy, it is a...
