This little gem of a park is out of the way and hidden and it's for a reason. Locals love it for the trail walks with views of the ocean and marsh wildlife as it's finest. The local train lines go by from time to time so keep the kids clear of the track lines. Parking is ample but I stress that you keep all valuables out of sight and out of mind. There have been moments of break ins and the police are there from time to time to present a presence for would-be thieves. I've never had any issues myself but I've heard this when I've gotten out of the truck to go for a walk. It's so worth the visit though so don't let this throw you off. Take a chair and go sit on the beach and look at the ocean or catch the sunset from here which is stunning !! The walking trails are clean and there are a few outdoor washrooms. The park times change as the season does so make sure you look at the sign at the front gate or the other one further up the drive to the parking lot. You could end up getting locked in. There is a number to call if you do but hopefully you don't. Take your camera and view the wildlife and the many birds that frequent the marshes...
Read moreParking lot is fairly easy to find and fits about 60-70 cars. The lot is accessed from Railway Road off of Colebrook Road. Nearest transit point is a good 2.3 km walk.
There is a toilet facility at the beginning of the parking lot where it meets the Serpentine trailhead and trash bins are available around the 2.7 km loop around the park. The park is dog friendly, but should be on a leash when near other people out of respect for others.
From here, you could take the Boundary Bay Dyke Trail which spans 20 km all the way to Boundary Bay. If you wish to take on this trail, make sure to have all the hydration and snacks with you for this long trek. It's a great place to ride your bike or a good, long distance run.
At low tide, you will see a bay full of mud and sand. When the tide is high, it's a relaxing spot to sit and stare out into the bay. From time to time, you may spot Eagles and Hawks flying around or perched...
Read moreWith this area becoming more popular theft has started to happen in the parking lot, make sure you watch out for each other here. Also be on the lookout for the degenerates dumping garbage on the roads leading to the park.
I go here a few times a week to run. Beautiful place, only issue is during rush hour you get hit with areas of bad pollution (next to highway).
During the winter I see eagles almost every time sitting on the trees as you run under.
When you get to the end of the path along the highway you can keep going and follow it along the water until it links up with another trail that also goes along the water (Boundary Bay Dyke Trail)
If you see someone running during a storm/downpours without a shirt and in...
