A great, easy set of trails nestled in the middle of South Surrey. Perfect for taking a walk, run, bike ride, or walk with your furry friend. The trails are very well maintained and accessible. My friend had no problems pushing her stroller the whole way and I feel a wheelchair would be able to manage. The trails are mostly a well packed dirt and gravel mix with several points of interest and benches throughout. There can be muddy parts during or right after rainy days. There are several entry points, but the main parking lot is on 24th Ave between 148th st. and 144th st.(closer to 144th), across from the softball city north entrance. You'll mostly see walkers and walkers with their dogs throughout the trails. Most bike riders choose to use the bike park trails on the softball city side of 24th Ave. You'll find trail maps at the info stand in the parking lot and garbage bins at almost all of the access points. Be aware that not all dog walkers follow the rules about keeping their dogs leashed or cleaning up and properly disposing of excrement. Most will recall their dogs and hold on to them as they pass by and are pretty friendly and understanding if you have a rambunctious or reactive dog on leash. If you are walking your pooch, please bag their poop and take it to the cans at the entrances. The whole Chickadee loop takes approximately 45min to an hour depending on if you are stopping to read about the points of interest or being dragged by a giant,...
Read moreI love walking in Sunnyside Acres with my dog (I think it's his favourite place to go he always gets very excited) the main trail is very easy and well maintained, perfect for everyone. It takes us about 45min to finish the loop at a very casual stroll. A brisk walk and you could easily finish in 20min.
There's a more rugged trail (not as wide but still well maintained) that cuts the main loop in half if you want a shorter walk. There are the occasional cyclists to watch out for but I've never had a bad experience with a cyclist on this path they are always curtious to walkers with their dogs.
It's a popular spot I always run into people walking the trail and...
Read moreMy favorite place in South Surrey for a walk when I want a change from the beach. The over hanging tree branches provide a natural canopy and do a decent job of protecting you from the elements. About 3k to do Chickadee loop which is the main trail within the forest.
I often start behind Dairy Queen on 152nd head down the semihamoo trail and then over the pedestrian overpass on 148th which connects up with Chickadee Loop.
Never that busy and can always find parking. Main parking lot is located on 24th between 148th and 144th on the North side. There's wheelchair accessible portion of the...
