We recently held the first annual BCWLE golf tournament at the Hills at Portalâs par 3 course and we were so pleased with the event. We chose this course for our event because the owners, management and staff were so helpful and supportive and guided us every step of the way. This being our first tournament, we had many challenges including a short timeline to plan and lack of experience organizing this type of event. The goal of the event was to encourage inexperienced golfers to get out and try the game and provide a fun and relaxed environment for our members to socialize and network. They closed the Par 3 course to the public for our tee times and provided a large number of club rentals for our participants. They even recommended a pro who we hired to work with everyone prior to teeing off and also set up a KP contest. During the event, the manager helped us set up, provided tables for our registration and checked in frequently to see if we needed anything. The owners were also on site and treated us so well. We were provided tees, ball markers and divot repair tools for those who needed them knowing that most of our participants were new to golf and likely wouldnât have those things.
For the social event afterwards, they allowed us to set up our raffle prize table in the lobby area and sectioned off an area of the restaurant with privacy screens so we could mingle and run our raffle and door prize contests without having to worry about disturbing anyone else. This was all done without us even asking which really impressed our organizing committee; they clearly put a lot of thought into the details of hosting an event. The servers were so attentive and there was a great selection of food available. The kitchen staff met with our organizers at the beginning of the day so they could be prepared which meant that the food came out quite quickly despite a larger group.
There was extremely positive feedback from the participants, our board of directors and the planning committee. What they enjoyed the most was that the course was easy enough for beginners with some really gorgeous scenery along the way.
We will definitely be...

Read moreOne of my favourite courses. Very reasonably priced. I've played here for a couple of years and the course is well maintained and well run. This tree lined course is challenging with a lot of hills; where your feet are rarely flat with the ball. The treeline has been cleaned up nicely over the past two years allowing you to punch out any errant shots from under the trees. The greens have some slope, so quite often there is tough pin positions, but they are spacious. There is not a lot of water on the course. If you are walking, you will get a good workout! Power carts are available and are recomended gor people with health or mobility issues. The clubhouse restaurant and bar is very good and a great recent addition to the course. Its a lovely course. In my opinion, the areas that need improvement are.
