This site is beautiful and historically interesting, but my review is for people thinking about staying in Fort Ingall overnight. We stayed in the Foundry's room.

It's impossible to explain what an amazing experience staying overnight in the Foundry's room in a fort was! The ambiance, uniqueness, and history of that location made it truly special.

For those who care about the details... Our host was prompt and polite with lots of information about the lodging, the bed was far more comfortable than I would have guessed, the shared kitchen we could use was large with 2 fridge/freezers and all of the silverware/plates/utensils we could need. There was a microwave, stove, kettle, toaster, and more.

The bathrooms were very clean with a small, but nice shower with great water pressure and clean towels.

They provided seasoned wood and an axe for creating a fire in their fire pit. And the WiFi worked outside by the fire.

You can take a stroll down to the lake, and restaurants or a very nice supermarket are reasonably close.

I imagine being out of the room by 9am might be difficult for some people, but this is a museum that opens at 9, so they need to be able to show the room. That being said, you can still use the shared kitchen area that has tons of tables and the shower bathroom until you are ready to leave.

I'm so...

We took the shuttle from the National Park Lac-Témiscouata and someone was waiting for us wearing a uniform. We had a guided visit and he explained the story of the fort really well. He was able to answer our questions perfectly. The story is nice and gives you a sense of belonging to Lac Témiscouata. There was 2 demonstrations that we had the chance to see. The employees were really nice and well trained.

I don’t remember the name of our guide. But he told me he have been working there for 17 years. He really likes his job and we could see it.

Thank you for this experience. I will definitely talk to...

Trés excellentes!

Can't remember the guys, but a few young workers were just absolutely awesome! Friendly, conversational, informative about history, respectful, helpful.

The site is very interesting!

Highly recommended!

Glad that the management (provincial, I think) had young guys acting the part of young soldiers, rather than the ridiculous decision that Parks Canada made allowing female youth to represent historically male soldiers at Fortress of Louisbourg. I heard tourists walking away they're saying, "I didn't know women were soldiers...

Really enjoyed visiting this place and hearing about the history around the fort and the Waterloo war from 1812-1815. The staff was very friendly and took the time to explain everything in detail. They even put on a show and showed us how they used to load and fire the musket rifles back in a day. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by.

Stayed here while passing through on a road trip—very convenient off the highway and definitely memorable since the hostel is in an old fort! We just needed a place to crash, and with motel prices in the area so high, this was a very reasonable option. Simple, clean, and worth it if you just need a place to sleep. Would recommend!
