This is one of the most unique, majestic, & awe inspiring parks I've ever been to. I'm fairly certain it used to be an ancient Wendot native city at some point more than 400 years ago. There are fascinating native legends from the area, including that of Kitchikewana, the 2km tall giant, and son of the mysterious Gitche Manitou (the good spirit). Nearby "Giants Tomb Island" is the final resting place of this lonesome young giant. The rugged land which surrounds the island and appears to be carved up, is supposedly the result of Kitchikewana throwing a fit of rage after being told that the woman he had fallen in love with was actually already engaged to another.

Gitche Manitou was said to be the creator of the Anishinabe, and all indigenous North American people. Places like Manitoulin Island, Manitoba, Manito, Minto, etc are named for the places where these great spirits lived. Gitche Manitou was the sun of "Sky Woman". Another fascinating story.

By my research, I do believe Tiny Marsh is connected to this ancient narrative, and may even be the location of a city described in Mormon texts as well, specifically the "Book of Ether". I'm not a religious man by any means, but what I have uncovered through research is a real roller coaster ride, and continues at an exciting pace. Stay tuned for 360 photos,...

Great place to get away for a couple of hours any time of the year. Option to walk across the marsh or through the forest trails. Unplug and reap the benefits of "forest bathing". Regular folk may not see anything special while certain birders might obsess with the sighting of a flock of black terns or an osprey through the scope. Quiet observers can be rewarded with snake, mink, or turtle sightings, but it's also the perfect place for bring the kids to run along the trail and shake their sillies out.(don't forget the wagon) great photo ops wherever you look. Sunscreen a must - no protection out on the dyke trail. Fishing allowed. Dogs on leash. Kayak/canoe launch just off parking lot. Gravel road can do a number on your car-to minimize take Flos Concession 11W and then Ushers Road over. It's a little gem that will bring you a different reward every time you go. Worth protecting so donate -...

I've been walking Tiny Marsh near daily for a couple of decades.

3 weeks ago the guy running the place "Rick", disappeared. He's been there longer than I have been going and kept a tight reign on the place.

Since his departure-- the west end trail is flooded, impassible, as well as the boardwalk.

Trees and limbs are down all over the place.

Hunters now drive through in side by sides and tear up the trails.

Hunting now happens till well past dark...

So, wear high vis if you are going. Keep your ears open for hunters... They are in the marsh now and fore onto the walking paths.

There is also a beaver infestation... So don't let your dog's drink or swim there.

It's a sad transition.... Like Portland on a...

The place is open to visitors year-round, and consists of 8.5 square kilometres of marshes, open water, bog, and upland forest.  There are 25 kilometres of trails taking visitors to dikes, two observation towers, a marsh viewing mound, and a boardwalk. If you get a chance this gem is worth visiting. We didn't get to see a fraction of this beautiful place due to time, but what we did see was amazing. And we learned that there are a group of people who have invested heavily in the future preservation of this place. As a bird photographer I enjoyed the birds I saw.
