So supposedly there are rumors that indicate this light house is home to a ghostly presence. The only thing my daughter and witnessed is a mosquito bite she got while walking down the path to get to this landmark. All in all this monument is really nice. It's a 15min walk west from Center Island beach. Lots of people were walking, biking, jogging and we even saw a small group of children who were on a day camp excursion. Beautiful trees which provided lots of shade to protect you from the sun but the weather was perfect that day with a nice cool breeze and it was not too hot or humid. Lots to discover at Center Island and it will be nice to come back to view the beautiful sun set in...

“The oldest landmark in the city that’s still in its original place (no one knows for sure when it was erected- 1808 is the best guess), this symbol of early seafaring days put old York on the map and used the first rudiments of green power - a cable tied to a drum and dropped down the shaft of the lighthouse revolved the light that guided trading vessels. The 25 metre-high structure is essentially the same as it was 200 years ago - it was raised 3 metres in 1832 - except for the iron balcony, which replaced a wood...

It's the one of the oldest structure in Toronto built in 1808 it is also the oldest light house still remaining on the great lakes built of large stones. It is quite impressive light house, there is a myth of the light house keeper who was murdered there sometime in the 18 hundreds possibly by British soldiers, and is said to still Rome the grounds. It is just across the road from Gibraltar...

If you are up for a long and relaxing walk among the beach and through the islands- this place is for you. We also rented a bike cart for 4 people and had a great experience. On the weekend of course it's busy - better get water and snacks with you. We will be back definitely for a family bbq, as here is a lot of space for any activity.

If you're on Centre Island, it's a good excuse to briefly stop walking and take a couple pictures! We weren't expecting to encounter it on our walk. It's a nice bit of architecture that isn't too far from the main beaches. Just keep in mind it's a lighthouse. It isn't like the CN Tower or something.
