Really beautiful park! Sort of a hidden gem in the West End of the GTA. Would have loved to been able to spend more time here and cover more territory as there are trails that connect to Etienne Brule park along the Humber river , however we were so happy that we did a preliminary investigation before our next visit. I'm guessing that picnic tables may have been removed due to Covid-19. There are a few benches but for any groups wanting to have a picnic here and not happy to just spread out a blanket on the ground, I would advise bringing some folding lawn chairs. Koi in the ponds as well as lots of geese and ducks and turtles. Nicely maintained English- style gardens that you can enjoy while walking along the meandering paths. We drove to this park and I' m not certain that it's very easy to get to by public transit. They do have a fairly large parking lot so...

This place is absolutely beautiful. There are separate paths for walking and biking, there are trails that go off the path and through different sections of the woods, scattered seating and picnic tables, and beautiful garden beds all around the parking area. There is a very large parking area so you don't have to fight to get a spot, that is if you go when it's not busy. My only problem is that out of the seating available, there is not too much in shaded areas, it seems like they deliberately placed the benches in places where there is sunlight all day. This can be a problem when you go to sit down and it feels like the bench is about to burst into flames. But you can always bring a towel, blanket or camp chairs and find a shaded place to sit, keep that in mind if you decide to visit James Gardens, and bring plenty of water because there is no place to fill...

James Gardens is such a vibe, if you haven’t been, you’re seriously missing out. Tons of ducks, geese, squirrels just roaming around like they own the place (and honestly, they kinda do). They’re super chill around people too, you can get pretty close and they won’t even flinch. The park runs right along the Humber River, which makes it extra peaceful. You’ve got the sound of water, fresh air, and shade from all the big trees, perfect for a breezy walk or just kicking back on a picnic blanket. Lots of picnic spots, space to spread out, and quite enough parking than most parks in the city, no stress pulling up here. Whether you’re out with friends, on a casual date, or just need to clear your head, this spot hits. Highly recommend checking it out, especially when the weather’s nice.
