Update 2 - as I said: for show. I’ve only just realized the response was via this review. They receive my email, so have a way to contact me directly and arrange further discussion…but decide to respond publicly rather than to the email. For anyone reading this, take note of the way they handle things. And, for anyone with a disability, beware how you’ll be treated. There were no people available to radio for help that day (despite the idle young staff hanging about) and my family was basically told they’re SOL. To the owners: you should be ashamed at yourselves. Clearly, my husband and MIL are not the only ones to have been victims of unsavoury customer service by your staff. Whether it was an older British woman, or young and able-bodied persons on staff, and regardless if it was in 2023 or 2025, there’s no reason to be so pretentious.
Update: I emailed as requested below, but no follow up. Not surprising. It’s all for show..
I recently found out about an incident my husband and MIL, experienced; or I would have posted this review sooner. They came by Krause on their way home from an appointment, thinking they would help me out with errands as we were hosting out of town relatives, and I wanted to showcase a local business and their amazing product that make our region proud.
They picked up a number of pies, and a large vat of ice cream, and some other items. They asked if a shopping cart was available, but the staff member looked annoyed and walked away without answering. Apparently, it created a lot of confusion and upset for the staff members, to ask such a question.
My MIL uses a cane while my husband was on crutches after surgery. They asked, after making purchases while at the cashier, if anyone could assist them to bring the items to their vehicle. They realized the trip to the parking lot juggling all items would be treacherous for them. The request was declined, and they were made to feel it was an unreasonable request. Apparently staff continued to stand around waiting for things to do. Young, able-bodied teenagers on staff… For a farm, we’re surprised there wasn’t at least a farmhand or any other able-bodied person to assist customers who were supporting their business. Just a “nope. You’re on your own” type of attitude.
I don’t know if it’s a policy that staff are not supposed to assist or promote actual accessibility; but maybe putting up signage that warns customers to not expect staff to assist beyond swiping credit cards or taking your cash would be helpful. That way, people can be given opportunity to decide if they wish to proceed and be treated so poorly.
Last week, I suggested we pick up items from Krause. My husband told me what happened. I felt sick to my stomach, knowing they were treated so badly, and had to face this challenge. I refused to enter the property, on principle. I do not support businesses that claim to have, but do not actually believe they should provide accessibility, for people with disabilities. The attitude of staff is disgusting. No pride, obviously, in their jobs.

Read moreMy 2 friends and I just got home from lunch at the farm. We’d never been before and looked forward to the experience! Sadly it wasn’t all that great. The girl behind the bar was fantastic thankfully (apologies as I didn’t get her name). We ordered the pizza, the Mexican bowl and the garden box. We were a bit surprised that it took 45 minutes, but we’re enjoying our wine and sangria and the day was beautiful, so we were hanging out on the patio. Once our order came, we were sharing all 3 dishes, so started to dish them out, only to find a considerable amount of mould caked on a strawberry in the garden box. We’re not talking just a little bit here, as it was shocking that they didn’t even see it when it was made, as it was all around the large strawberry. We returned it to the girl behind the bar and she apologized profusely because it was so obvious. She said she would speak to her manager. She returned to us out on the patio and said her manager would refund us the garden box. We were a bit shocked that the manager didn’t even take the time to come apologize for the mouldy garden box. It’s not like we were being difficult and complaining about how long it took or the service. But you’d think if your kitchen is serving mouldy food to your customers, you may have some concerns as to what is going on in the kitchen with regards to quality control. But apparently not. Clearly the manager didn’t care. We felt really bad for the girl from the bar, since her manager must have just told her that they would refund us the money for the mouldy garden box (gee thanks manager, as no one wants to pay for a mouldy food), and she was very sweet and gave us some cookies. That manager should be ashamed that they didn’t even care that they served mouldy food, as it left us wondering about the quality and care they take with all their food, so it was just a turn off. As a manager we’d think you’d want to reassure your customers that this was unacceptable, and you’d be looking into it. It was the lack of a manager even caring that we found quite disappointing and disturbing. Clearly the farm is very busy and doing well, which is great, but a heads up, look at your strawberries before you start digging in maybe, because if the manager had cared enough to put our minds at ease that this would be looked into, this review would likely never have been written. But if she didn’t care enough to even do that, what does that say about their concerns about the quality control. Not sure we’d return based on this experience and likely will share with friends what happened to us. It put a bit of a damper on our lunch that we were looking so forward to enjoying. At least we enjoyed each others company! We didn’t take a photo, as we never intended to post a bad review, but after the managers non concern at all, we think it’s only fair that we share this with others. Thanks again to the sweet girl from the bar that tried her best to rectify...
Read moreA great place to bring toddlers for berry picking. If you don't like crowds though this is not the place for you. Ideal time to visit: 9 am (which is their opening time). Maybe weekdays would be less crowded.
Parking: As soon as you get into the property - a huge sign that says Krause Berry Farm, you will just follow the road leading to their huge parking lot at the very front of the farm.
Amenities and Facilities:
Washrooms Porta-potty by the parking area (in blue which coordinates well with their blue colored buildings)
For parents: Sadly their regular washrooms are still closed so if you need to change a baby/taby's diaper, you'd have to go to your car or wherever there is privacy and no one is eating.
Playground: A playground - great for Kiddos to run around and play away from the people
Small garden - (close to the Upick pay station and winery) if you have an active toddler great to let them run around here while ordering
Restaurants: Milkshakes, pizza and fries station (close to the playground)
Restaurant area - huge line up to order waffles but we did anyway because they have a gluten free option.
Just a FEEDBACK though, they have to keep the GF option pancake making system better. Our child's pancake was on the burnt side. Three people had to yank it out of the waffle maker. Good thing their coconut whipped cream softened it a bit and my child was able to eat all of it. I think she just ate it even if it was a little burnt because it was her special treat. Asking for another one would probably be a pain because of the number of people. Be prepared to line up for at least 20 minutes. If you are in a hurry better not eat here.
Drive In Waffle - haven't tried this but great idea!
Seating - there are lots every where so this is phenomenal.
Upick (as of July 17):
Blueberries - loved the experience because we literally had one whole row to ourselves! Lots and lots of blueberries still!
Blackberries - by 1030 am there were not lots but probably by this weekend (July 24 and 25) many will be ready for picking
Note that they require you to buy one container each per person above 4 years old whom will go berry picking. I got the $20 4 litre one and two small blue plastic ones at $6 each.
Market: Haven't tried but maybe next time will buy some other produce.
Over all comments: -Spend at least 2 hours for berry picking -plan lunch early if you don't want to be surrounded by a lot of people -Will do again but will also go early in the morning and maybe a weekday next time. -most of the farm employees we have encouraged were friendly and helpful -since there are a lot of people, some can be intense and irritable (ie people can react if you ask questions esp. on the line-ups). It's just normal when there are lots of people plus some probably have social anxiety coming out of covid. -if you want to, you can literally spend a...
