Worth a Visit, But Know Before You Go
Visited the Ranney Gorge Suspension Bridge during summer around 7 PM, and overall, it was a pleasant experience.
🌉 The Bridge • The suspension bridge is scenic and well-maintained. • It spans over the Trent River and provides great views of the Ranney Falls and surrounding nature. • It’s sturdy, safe for families, and offers a nice photo opportunity, especially during golden hour (sunset). • The bridge looks longer in online photos — it’s not very long, but still enjoyable to cross.
🗺️ How to Get There • Located inside Ferris Provincial Park in Campbellford, Ontario. • There are two entrances: • Main Park Entrance (requires a parking permit/day pass). • Back Entrance via Trent Drive (near the Trent River dam) — free parking, with a short walk to the bridge. Great for those not looking to spend a full day in the park. ⚠️ Tip: If you’re just there to see the bridge, use the Trent Drive side to save on park fees.
🌲 The Surroundings • The trails around the bridge are peaceful and easy to walk. • The area is great for a short hike, a relaxing stroll, or a picnic. • Washroom facilities are available inside the park (not at the free access side).
📸 Best Time to Visit • Early evening in summer is perfect — cooler temperatures, fewer people, and lovely lighting for photos.

Read moreI recently visited the Ranney Gorge Suspension Bridge in Campbellford, and it was an amazing experience. Walking across the 300-foot-long bridge, suspended about 30 feet above the Trent River, gave me incredible views of the gorge and the surrounding forest. The gentle sway of the bridge beneath my feet added a little thrill without being scary.
The trail leading to the bridge was easy to follow and well maintained, making the walk enjoyable. I loved being able to see turtles basking on the rocks below through the open metal flooring of the bridge. The peaceful sound of the flowing river and the rustling leaves created a very relaxing atmosphere.
After crossing, I explored some of the nearby trails in Ferris Provincial Park, which offered even more beautiful scenery and peaceful spots to take in nature. The whole visit felt like a perfect mix of adventure, nature, and calm.
I’d definitely recommend the Ranney Gorge Suspension Bridge to anyone looking for a scenic and memorable...
Read moreWe were finally able to access this beautiful spot - tried last week and it was frozen. We had to turn back and were really disappointed. Well this week we made it - very slushy and mucky though as it's spring now. Parking is not an issue at this location- free on both sides of the gorge. From the west side it's a decent walk but well worth the effort. Once you get on the suspension bridge all worries disappear- its really beautiful. The bridge itself is rock solid with rallying to hold on to. However the experience is fantastic with the bridge swaying- when you look down you realize how high it is. Feel disoriented as the ground seems to move. We saw stalactites and stalagmites- guess it was my first time.. studied in Geography long back. They also have a washroom on location though I'm not sure how clean or usable it is. And hey remember you are in beautiful Campbellford- so don't forget to visit Doohers bakery, The Chocolate Factory and the dairy outlet famous for their...
