Tumbler Ridge Museum — Attraction in Tumbler Ridge

Me & my boyfriend drove from Calgary, AB to Tumbler Ridge, BC to join the Cabin Pool Tour and the Wolverine River Lantern Tour. We booked both of the tours in advance and on a Thursday, since we only arrived in town on a Monday and the museum is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. During our stay in Tumbler Ridge, we understood that the situation was kind of tricky as it was shortly after the pandemic and during the BC wildfires in August 2021. Nonetheless, we received a call on Thursday morning, an hour before our scheduled Cabin Pool Tour, that the museum had to cancel the tour due to the nature of the trail that is "strenuous" and due to the smoke. We hiked the Cabin Pool trail ourselves after and found the trail to be doable to hike. The Wolverine River Lantern Tour was also canceled due to the weather. We were pretty disappointed on the poor management of these tours. We just hope there will be a better crisis management system that will be put into place to mitigate canceling the tours altogether from people that come from...

The museum offers plenty of information about the area and its discoveries. Although it’s on the smaller side, it’s impressively curated for a small, isolated town. I think I had higher expectations after hearing so many great things about it. As someone who loves museums and has visited many, this was the smallest I’ve been to, so I was a bit surprised by its size with all the chatter I have heard about it. Well my experience is a little different from other people's At one time my father and I ran a renovating company in Tumbler Ridge and had the privilege of converting the school into the research center.
