Whiteshell River Self-guiding Trail — Attraction in Unorganized Division No. 1

Solo snowshoed the beautiful Whiteshell River Trail on December 22, 2024! The winter scenery was so magical. This is a 2.7 km loop that starts from the south Mantario parking lot off Hwy 312 in the Whiteshell. The snow was deep and fluffy and I broke trail with the snowshoes which was very challenging! There were lots of ups and downs, some quite steep, and amazing views on the way. A couple of downed trees to step over but otherwise trail was in great condition. I especially loved seeing the open water on the Whiteshell River and heavy snow weighing down the pine trees.

I would say this is my new favourite snowshoeing trail in...

Easier trail on par with Pine Point Rapids. I almost didn't do it because of a couple of reviews I read on all trails. I had no trouble crossing a couple of fallen trees and finding my way back to the trail (this is the first time we hiked this trail). The trail is a little overgrown in sections but so are a lot of them this time of year. There is one area in the last kilometer right below the power lines that is not marked well and is confusing.
