Solo snowshoed the beautiful Whiteshell River Trail on December 22, 2024! The winter scenery was so magical. This is a 2.7 km loop that starts from the south Mantario parking lot off Hwy 312 in the Whiteshell. The snow was deep and fluffy and I broke trail with the snowshoes which was very challenging! There were lots of ups and downs, some quite steep, and amazing views on the way. A couple of downed trees to step over but otherwise trail was in great condition. I especially loved seeing the open water on the Whiteshell River and heavy snow weighing down the pine trees. I would say this is my new favourite snowshoeing trail in the Whiteshell!

Very fun trail. Can be difficult to navigate because of the alternative trails but fun because it keeps you thinking.

Easier trail on par with Pine Point Rapids. I almost didn't do it because of a couple of reviews I read on all trails. I had no trouble crossing a couple of fallen trees and finding my way back to the trail (this is the first time we hiked this trail). The trail is a little overgrown in sections but so are a lot of them this time of year. There is one area in the last kilometer right below the power lines that is not marked well and is confusing. When you get to the bottom of the power lines The trail continues...
