Nice short trail in Riding Mountain National Park- easy to find near the start of Hwy 19 - just north of Wasagaming. You can choose to do a long or short loop using snowshoes or just winter boots. I am not sure why it is marked that you should walk in a certain direction - we saw tracks through the snow in both directions - which made sense to us. There are 2 other trailheads at the same starting point - Kinosao and Grey Owl's cabin. Grey Owl's trail is for cross country skiing only. Kinosao is multiuse - same as the Brule trail. We had a nice time on this trail - no wildlife spottings that day though. The terrain is up and down at times - sturdy winter boots or snowshoes are needed if you visit in Winter. Would be a good place to hike in summer or winter if you are looking for a short hike.

First time in the area. It ain’t no enchanted forest or anything but it’s a good trail to see some local plants and trees. My group didn’t spot any animals but I’m sure they’re around. The hike was 4.2km I believe and it was quite an easy hike. Lots of shade coverage if it’s a hot day. There’s some roots on the trail so would recommend watching your next step or to get a good pair of hiking boots. Views were very nice. Would recommend some bug spray is the mosquitoes in the area are hungry for human. We brought our dog and she was able to walk the trail with ease and got to go for a swim (large loop if you went the water scene).

I’d call this an easy-moderate trail! You don’t have to do the entire circuit either, it can be shortened. Very nice hike for 1-2 hours. The terrain through the forest in general is family friendly. Parts of it is challenging but some parts have l inclines and declines, but they are ok for seniors and young families. There’s tree roots throughout the floor so perhaps a bike might not be the greatest here. There’s a boardwalk you eventually reach. Then you can stop for a nice view along Brûlée Lake at a bench and there’s a dock to you can rest at.

I hiked the Brule Trail on the morning of July 11, 2020. This is always a favourite trail of mine in the park and it is a tradition for me to hike there during every visit.

The 4.5 km trail is a loop that follows through forest and leads to Kinosao Lake. The trail has some gentle ups and downs, but is mostly flat and easy terrain. There are also some protruding tree roots to watch out for. Right before reaching the lake, you cross a boardwalk over a marshy area beside the lake which makes for some beautiful photos!

Kinosao Lake is such a peaceful and gorgeous lake. The water is so calm in the mornings. There is a dock and a canoe stashed under a tree with life jackets and paddles, that is available for anyone to take out. The reflections on the lake in the morning make for really nice photos and it's a wonderful spot to relax and admire the beautiful surroundings.

The trail then follows back through forest and some open grassy areas to arrive back at the parking lot.

WARNING - The mosquitoes were relentless and vicious during my visit! There were swarms of them following me at all times and if I stopped moving, they attacked. This definitely made the hike less enjoyable. There were also some muddy and wet sections to navigate which wasn't too difficult.

Overall, the hike was pretty and I love the lake destination. I plan to return in the fall for a more enjoyable experience without the...

Hiked this trail with my family, 2.5 year old & a 1.5 year old. Little over 4 kms, took approximately 2 hours and kids did most the hike themselves. Minor hills and some minor parts of muddiness, but mud was able to be avoided. An obvious is bug spray, as you're in the woods and there are going to be bugs. But they were significantly better then our experience less then 2 weeks ago at Waskesiu National Park SK. Nice view of Kinosao Lake at mid point of hike with a canoe and 2 life jackets that are able to be used by anyone. It does intertwine with the longer Lake Kinosao Trail(7ish kms) so we would do that one next however would definitely recommend and do this again in...
