The East Gate Entrance is well-maintained, specially with the free Strong Canada Pass- it was to visit multiple times. However, the Trails around the East Gate entrance is poorly marked. It needs to be upgraded with new signs to be installed to replaced the old trail signs- to prepare the onslaught of park visitors as more people are visiting Canadian parks, particularly this renown Riding Mountain...

Very cool spot to see, not many people enter the park on highway 19 and for good reason! The drive can be VERY sketchy. I do recommend going to speed limit as there are plenty of blind corners and hills with a decent amount of traffic. Worth doing the trip at least once to see the old gate. What a wonderful place to see both for the view and for the history. Hard to believe it's such a hidden location. Would highly recommend taking the extra few minutes or kms out of anyone's day to go for one of the best views of manitoba! Lots of hiking available, even trails to horse back ride down. Stop at one of the many small lakes on the east side of the park while...

It was an interesting trek down to this gate, as there was snow the night prior. I wish I got to see the lookout spot on the way down, but nowhere to park at the time. The snowplow was on the way down, so next time.
