Where do I begin! I recently attended the Escape the Hooved Man event at Big Eddy Lodge. Big Eddy Lodge is nestled well into the Saskatchewan Delta on the Saskatchewan River bank. Aski Holistic Adventures did a superb job hosting the event. The food and the facilities were phenomenal. And not in a phenomenal way one would expect. I walked away being so thrilled to be a part of Michela’s home and family for 48 hours. Michela, Leo, Sol and Renee literally opened up their hearts and home to us while we were there. Big Eddy Lodge is rustic and full of character, the out houses were pristine with their warm and inviting styrofoam toilet seats. I have stayed in the winter back country numerous times in my life but was never as pleased as when I planted my bottom on the styrofoam toilet seat. It wasn’t freezing cold! Big Eddy Lodge’s Sauna was also amazing. The massive wood burning stove inside it kept temps steaming hot with a nice available warm or cold shower (your choice depending what you fill the bucket with) at the end. You are so hot when you are done you could walk back to your cabin in bare feet if you wanted. The cabins were neat, clean and stocked with enough wood to keep you warm and toasty for any cold old man winter would wield. All of the Fat Biking trails were superb, flowie and fast. You could tell by the trail SOL and Leo like to ride FAST!! (And probably race each other every other day) The event was well organized and a ton of fun with a sprinkle of amazing food, wood pellet smoked pizzas and many, many interesting and exciting stories told by Sol and Renee. Big Eddy Lodge, Escape the Hooved Man and of course Michela and family from Aski Adventures will also remain in my memory banks as an experience I will always cherish and look forward to repeating as many times as I am able. Remember we all have an expiry date. Get out there and experience what Aski Holistic Adventures...
Read more17 to 20 May 2024 - Marathon Paddling Canoe Camp It's Marcel again, with Elaine. This is my 2nd and Elaine’s first experience at Big Eddy. We attended the Marathon Paddling Canoe Camp during the 2024 May long weekend and it did not disappoint. It was a most magical, fun filled and very inspirational weekend spent with outstanding people from across Canada and the USA. The food was top notch, the stories and presentations rich, accommodations cosy & comfortable and the overall setting unbelievably enriching & rejuvenating. The nightly saunas brought a perfect end to each day. Oh yeah, the paddling instruction was first class as well, as taught by 2 world champion paddlers, Solomon & Jeff. We are most grateful and appreciative to our fabulous hosts Michela, Renee, Solomon & Léo, as well as all those who attended - having made great friends with all. We will be back…
26 - 29 May 2023 Log Cabin Course I thoroughly enjoyed the Log Cabin Course as it greatly exceeded my expectation. The instruction & what I learned was brilliantly taught, with it being a very practical & hands-on course. What made the experience exceptional was the camaraderie, the great meals shared together, the comfortable accommodations and the many interesting stories/conversations in a most intimate & welcoming familial setting. Big Eddy Lodge, its beautiful location, remoteness, tranquility and the wonderful people that facilitated the rich learning & sharing, as well as my classmates, were the shining jewels in a very precious crown. Taking any course offered at Big Eddy Lodge is highly recommended as it will not disappoint. I will...
Read moreI attended Aski's Escape the Hooved Man Winter Fat Bike Race and Festival. I wasn't sure what to expect when I signed up knowing that I would be disconnected from the world without cell coverage running water and the normal amenities that are at arms reach in the city. But all I can say is I'm glad I went. It may not be for everyone but if looking at taking a weekend to get away from it all then this is the place. Michela, Leo, Renee, and Sol were fantastic hosts welcoming us all into their home and treating us all like family. The shared accommodations were amazing, and cozy warm with wood burning furnaces, the outhouses were well taken care of and everything was immaculately clean. The sauna was hot and steamy and I can't wait to see the new one when it is finished. As far as the biking, the trails were second to none, solid firm and fast and by far the best trails Ive ever ridden on. Thank you for a wonderful weekend and an experience...
