My partner, Myself & my Son went to camp @ Grand Beach Campground Aug long wknd 2020. The 1st nite we were there we were sitting around our campfire listening quietly to a ghost story on my phone. We were not talking @ all, & not consuming alcohol. We were so quiet actually that we didn’t notice the park rangers approaching until they were right behind in the dark & started telling us to “shut it down” they scared me half to death & were unbelievably rude telling us to go to bed. I then said my partner is 50 & I am 47 so we didn’t need them to tell us when to go to bed. My partner asked them if anyone had complained & they said no & no one better complain b/c we didn’t want them coming back in the morning to deal w/ us. I asked if they were threatening us & they replied back “just go to bed” They drove around our camp bay every night all nite for the 3 nites we stayed & since no one can operate a motor vehicle in the campground fr 11pm-7am it was extremely disruptive. We also had to pay over $100 for firewood while we were there & we have never had to spend that much @ any other campground it was awful & we felt like we were “under surveillance” for the rest of the wknd. The beach is beautiful but as far as the campground we will never be back due to our experience & will never recommend...

The beach is so huge and beautiful with soft, white sand like Florida. Unfortunately there was a lot of algae this year, but everywhere seems to be having that problem. It didn't stop us from enjoying the beach and swimming. The water was shockingly warm. Bath water warm! Because it is such a large lake the winds and waves are unpredictable. Our young kids hated the big waves many days but some days it was like glass. We loved the boardwalk and the beach front shops and food. A really fantastic beach, second to none in MB.

Another big beach highlight is the sand dunes. So much fun.

The town doesn't offer a lot compared to other MB resort towns like Clear Lake or Falcon Beach, however. It appears run down at first appraisal. But it grew on us and it has some great restaurants and some very nice gift shops and playground.

We stayed 8 nights in the campground and we really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful brand new shower facilities ($1per 3 minutes including large family showers). The campground is very private with loads of trees. Only one playground but it is very nice. Large sites but they are pure dirt and rocks. We wish there were was more grassy areas for the tent and for the kids. Everything was filthy all the time!

Overall we loved our stay and would return again for both day trips...

Grand Beach Provincial Park Campground Review -

Attended: July 2023

Pros: -Great Beach, very clean -Beachfront stores and restaurant nearby -Playground at West Beach is much better than the Campground Playground -Campground store has a very good variety of everyday groceries -Showers are decent (coin operated) -Laundry on site Sites are relatively private Park is easy to get around Modern washrooms are a reasonable walking distance away from all camp sites -Gas and alternate grocery store are minutes away from the park -Good cell phone reception -Weekend activities available (markets, movies, etc) -Campground is well staffed and clean -Campground Staff are very friendly and approachable -Wood in campground is expensive but you get much more than you would at other campgrounds -Easily accessible dump stations -Trials are well marked

Cons:

Campsites are fairly unlevelled -Very busy on nice weekends in the summer Beach is a fair distance away - recommend driving Do to proximity to Winnipeg and beach - weekend crowds seem to attract some party groups -Washrooms/Facilities need updating

Overall - Good experience...
