Stayed here in the yurts... my first experience in those. It was a great experience. A few notes on the camp ground. It has showers. They're coin-op, and require old loonies to work, but the staff know this and provide these on request. Flush toilets in the camp area and we'll kept outhouses elsewhere. The sites are quite nice. Big, and generally isolated enough to give you privacy. There are also dishwashing stations. You need to provide the soap, but the option of how water for washing is remarkably nice and convenient to boot. Firewood is sourced locally and instead of the standard green, wet punky stuff normally provided by sites, it's seasoned seasoned and dried. You pay for it and it seems like less than it is when it's getting loaded up but there's lots there. Considering the remoteness of the place it's understandable that they need to charge a bit of a premium.
The water on the lake was a bit less clear than advertised, but considering the almost galeforce winds it's understandable... The beach is very rocky, but these are rocks smoothed by thousands of years of erosion and almost entirely limestone so they really don't hurt the feet... The paddling and scenery here are absolutely great. There's a short (or long if you want) hiking trail right in the campsite which gives you a real impression of how deep in the woods you can really be. For Manitoba, the trees are enormous.
You'll have to decide if is a feature or a flaw: limited cell service. There's a place near the beach that offers a decent signal occasionally and one place neat the stop sign when you enter the campsites proper, but that's it. If you're looking to unplug, this place is amazing. I would, however ensure you download your favourite playlists before heading up because you won't be streaming anything.
The caves nearby are a particularly gorgeous nearby attraction. My nephews spent several hours climbing around and exploring.
Up the road at Pioneer Bay (I think that's the name?) there's also a small convenience store that...
Read moreEdited June 26, 2020: My boyfriend and I along with family and friends stayed here this summer and even despite new covid rules the campground was still super easy to navigate and we didn't really lose much access to facilities. Another beautiful trip with amazing fishing, but this time due to the weather we explored "the caves". I have to say it was disappointing to see a lot of garbage, beer cans, graffiti etc there. If that got cleaned up it would be the perfect little trip. It took us about an hour and a bit to walk around, and the trail, crevices, and big rocks were super cool and it had a little spot on the water that was really beautiful. My boyfriend and I will be returning yearly- Clearwater lake is absolutely gorgeous with fantastic fishing. Highly recommend 👌
I stayed in campers cove and the campsite was very clean. A little confusing to navigate my first day but figured it out quickly. Access to bathrooms, showers, firewood, water, etc. (Pretty much everything). The lake itself was gorgeous and everything was so clean. Fishing was 👌. Cant...
Read moreThe lake is gorgeous. It definitely is correctly named. Unfortunately it is a very rocky lake. The campground has spacious sites that are separated from other sites with brush and trees. Although the campground seems to be majority seasonal. The facilities are modern and in decent repair. Free wood was available during daylight hours. Water is not drinkable. The cleanliness on the park was severely lacking. Garbage and recycling was never picked up in the 5 days we camped. The waste stations were overflowing. Also the beaches and hikes were littered with garbage. Hikes were very...
