It is such a beautiful lake! I had a chance to work on a research cruise (NAMAO) for two weeks and enjoyed every moment of it! I feel so lucky to explore almost all of this lake. I wrote a poem to show my respect and love for Lake Winnipeg:

Lake Winnipeg

I gaze into the horizon And to the woolen and snowy clouds

O silvery-tinted lake How serene you are? How do you dance into existence, Flowing, Swirling, How do you swallow your angry waves, How do you engulf this world within yourself, And yet remain so calm?

O lake of grand desires And small wishes, How do you watch the birds from afar when you cannot walk?

How do you welcome the wind, That has traveled thousands of kilometers to reach here, And still remain tranquil?

I have seen you in turmoil and joy, I have seen you drawn towards the skies with cresting waves, And today, how are you so tranquil?

O lonely lake, Where will you find yourself? And where will you go to sleep? In your dreams, do you see the reflection of the moon? Or the silver-red fish that haven't reached home?

In your dreams, is there a nameless ship, That opens your waves, Touches your heart, And its people gaze upon you, And dream dreamy dreams?

They dream of you, O silvery-tinted lake, Dreams of you with thousands of waves, With thousands of colors, With thousands of fish swirling around you.

O lake! O! How, How are...

Located in central Manitoba, Lake Winnipeg is the sixth-largest freshwater lake in Canada. It is 435 kilometres long and at least 109 kilometres wide. With an area of approximately 24,400 square kilometres, Lake Winnipeg boasts a shoreline consisting of pristine white sand beaches, limestone cliffs and boreal forests. Hence, this area sits as a huge nesting ground for birds like pelicans, gulls and cormorants. Additionally, abundant fish species can be found here as well. As a matter of fact, Lake Winnipeg is a commercial fishing hub and contributes significantly to Manitoba’s fishing industry revenue. So, whatever the season may be, professional anglers and general fans of fishing can be spotted here...

How can you not appreciate the beauty of the largest fresh water lake in the world. I can't even find words for how much I love lake Winnipeg. The greatest of the greatest Lake. Breathtaking scenes of natural scenery. It's a beautiful lake and spreads over a long area. This place is as mystical as the pictures show it to be. Great views of mountains and the water is as blue as the pictures show it to be. Must visit here and...
