The trail is really well designed as the different lookout can have different view. The marks of trail is pretty easy to follow. AllTrails rank it hard, which I cannot agree. The elation is higher than other trails, but it has lots of helps like small wood stairs . Comparing with Nokomis trail and orphan lake trail, I think this one is relatively easier. Only complaint I have is every lookouts required a pretty long climbing down which means you have to climb up again to get to the original spot

Awesome trail, lots of climbing. It took us about 4.5 hours to do the entire hike. I loved scenic lookouts one and two, with lookout #2 being a great spot to rest for a bit, eat lunch or have a snack. We went on a rainy weekend so some spots were a bit slippery. Unfortunately, aside from spotting a grouse that would not fly at the beginning of the trail, we didn’t see any other “cool” wildlife. Btw, the last 30 mins of the hike was the least exciting part about the hike.

We had a lovely day on the Awausee trail. People recommend hiking the trail counterclockwise, so we did. Lots of vast outlooks and the woods were pretty amazing, too. Trail is roughly 6 miles with lots of elevation changes. This trail is listed as hard, but it really was reasonable, I think it received a hard raiting due to distance. Lot less rocks and roots than some other trails in the area.

Beautiful trail. Great lookouts and peaceful rocky creek crossings. We went clockwise (following the signs) but I agree with other reviews that counter-clockwise would have been better for us. Clockwise starts with a steeper climb and then gradual descent, with a long flat and relatively uninteresting stretch at the very end. We were here on a Sunday afternoon in August and it was not busy at all, seeing only 6 - 10 other people on the route. Watch out for frogs...
