My recent escapade to Pancake Bay Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada, was a revelation of nature's beauty at its finest. Nestled along the breathtaking shores of Lake Superior, this park is a true haven for outdoor enthusiasts and seekers of natural wonder. From the moment I entered Pancake Bay Provincial Park, I was greeted by a sense of tranquility that can only be found in the embrace of pristine wilderness. The lush forests, vibrant wildflowers, and crystal-clear waters formed a harmonious symphony of colors that left me in awe of the artistry of Mother Nature. The park's namesake, Pancake Bay, is a spectacle that must be seen to be believed. The crescent-shaped sandy beach stretches as far as the eye can see, offering a serene oasis to unwind, soak up the sun, and listen to the gentle lullaby of the lake's waves. The pristine waters are an open invitation for swimming, kayaking, and even a leisurely paddle along the shoreline, revealing hidden coves and secluded corners that spark the explorer's spirit. Hiking through the park's well-maintained trails was a journey of discovery, each step leading to a new vista more breathtaking than the last. The Edmund Fitzgerald Lookout Trail, in particular, provided panoramic views that were nothing short of awe-inspiring. As I stood on the precipice, gazing out over the vast expanse of Lake Superior, I felt an indescribable connection with the natural world around me. For those who appreciate the camaraderie of camping, Pancake Bay Provincial Park offers a variety of campgrounds that blend modern amenities with the spirit of rustic adventure. Falling asleep under the starlit sky, surrounded by the sounds of the forest, was a humbling reminder of the simple pleasures that nature provides. Wildlife enthusiasts will be delighted by the park's inhabitants, from the curious squirrels and elusive birds to the majestic deer that occasionally grace the forest paths. Patience and a keen eye might even reward you with a sighting of the elusive creatures that call this park home. In conclusion, Pancake Bay Provincial Park is a testament to Ontario's natural splendor and a sanctuary for those seeking respite from the urban bustle. It is a place where time slows down, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the rhythms of the earth. My visit left an indelible mark on my heart, and I wholeheartedly recommend this park to anyone yearning to reconnect with nature's beauty and find solace in its embrace. We had so much fun at Pancake bay this summer! This was our second time visiting the park. This year we stayed in the Hilltop Campground, site 46. This is my favourite area, with beautiful, spaced out, private sites. Previously, we had stayed on site 137 in the East Campground. I personally wouldn't recommend any of the sites right next to the highway, especially for tent campers (I think it would be okay if you had a trailer), it was very loud, almost scary at night when you are sleeping and it feels like the trucks driving on 17 are driving right next to you. There are so many sites to choose from, so there are definitely lots of options! The beach at Pancake Bay is absolutely gorgeous with white sand and clear water. The water is cool, but warm enough to swim during the hot summer months. Lots of beach access points throughout the campground, some with picnic tables available on the beach more towards the entrance of the park. There is also a dog beach near the West Campground. The bathrooms and shower facilities are well maintained and cleaned multiple times per day. Overall a beautiful and fun park to visit!

I drove three hours to camp at Pancake Provincial Park. I came to check in on Thursday, September 19th at 9:00 p.m. The girl closed the registration office at around 9:00 p.m. When I mentioned that the online and Google listings say that you are open until 9:30 p.m., she rudely dismissed what I was saying and was not even ready to give camping information as she said she was closed. The Ontario Parks staff girl who was at the office helping the office staff girl to close was quickly closing the firewood hut and talking to the office staff girl in hushed tones and using hand signals, which gave me the feeling that they were rushing to close and did not wish to help me. I am posting a screenshot of the registration office timing that is listed on Google so that the staff can be made aware of their office timings. P.S.: The reason for this review is that the staff in the office was rude and unwilling to provide any information about camping prices. However, when she finally gave me the prices, it was $53 for electrical and $15 for day use, whereas your website says $12.50 for day use. (Is the staff stealing money?)

I normally don’t leave reviews on things but since we have became interested in camping I heavily rely on reviews of each park. I don’t care much to read about how many bugs there were or how loud children were or about dogs barking because that’s not really a review on how the park itself is, so I decided to write a review on Pancake Bay. We stayed at Campsite 348, electric site. It was really close to the amazing, absolutely amazing beach, and about a 4 min walk to the comfort station, we had two privvys on each side of us but could not see them which was nice. The site itself was awkward to get into and rather small for our trailer which is 24ft. All the sites across from us was in my opinion the best choice. The beach was like being in Mexico, gorgeous white sand and the water was clear and the bottom was rippled. The only issue was Lake Superior is COLD!!!!!! If the kids like to swim, this could be a deal breaker.

The park is narrow and there’s a highway on one side and the lake on the other, you can hear the highway noise.

We were there on a recent fire ban so that sucked but we made the best of it. The Edmund Fitzgerald sank there so the history is interesting! I suggest listening to the Edmund Fitzgerald song by Gordon light foot before going, gives you goosebumps! Overall I am glad we experienced the beauty of this area and park. I think next time we would contuine further up the road to Lake Superior provincial park but Pancake is a nice...

Such a fantastic campsite. Stayed here for 2 nights and 3 days in a single tent. We had a great experience right from the start. Check in took no more than 5 minutes, and firewood and ice were available right where you check in. The park attendants were helpful with any questions we had. Park was very clean, campsites were spaced out perfectly, and all had very easy access to the beach. The park was very well maintained. The comfort stations were amazing... clean, with hot running water in the showers and impeccable water pressure! There are also plentiful water stations and toilets scattered throughout the grounds. This park is perfect if you’re a dog person, or have dogs of your own to bring as there were dogs at pretty much every other campsite. There is even a spot for them to jump in the water and cool off. The hiking is moderate difficulty but definitely doable and you can modify the length to what you wish. The view from the lookout was breathtaking! In addition, the beach was like no other in Ontario. Soft, white sand and tropical blue water that the sun rises over in the morning and stays high above for the day. The ONLY downside to this park was the close proximity to the highway, but if you don’t mind the infrequent passing of cars through the evening/night, then this is only a minor limitation. I would highly, highly recommend this park to anyone looking for a camping getaway! Thank you Pancake Bay for...
