Algonquin Park is a Canadian 🇨🇦 natural treasure.. East Gate staff are very friendly & efficient. Didn’t have to wait very long on the Friday to get our day permit for hiking. Sunday was a different story.. brutally long lines of cars & tour buses with hundreds of pushy tourists pretty much only there to take selfies... I will elaborate no further but if you have experienced Algonquin Park on Thanksgiving weekend, you will know what I mean. Congratulations to the staff at the East Gate for doing their utmost to process the lines of tourists efficiently & patiently... Seriously...something MUST be done here...increase Park entrance fees dramatically to reduce the detrimental effect all these tourists have on this exquisite natural environment... 😡. (I gave this a one star simply because of the horrible experience I had with all these pushy selfie obsessed tourists who have no respect for our natural world 🌎🤬🤮)

Algonquin's glorious colours are free to see if you only drive through on the highway and do nothing more. I prefer to start at the East Gate since it has a bit more of a park feel with the surrounding trees when you step out for a break before continuing through. My drive through this year on September 30, 2023 was said to coincide with peak maple colours and it really seemed that was the case. This year was some of the best mix of various intense colours I've had the pleasure of viewing since I've been visiting Algonquin. If you have the time, pay the park fee and do a hike or two. It's a great way to experience the best of Autumn in Ontario.

First Time Passing Through Beautiful Algonquin Okay. For us we only stopped here for the purpose of using the washrooms and getting info for a future trip down here from Ottawa. We were on our way to Parry Sound so there was no point to pay $18 to stop and visit some of these breathtaking sites. Staff was friendly with ample parking and bits of décor such as the totem pole. We were lucky to stop by on a not-so busy Sunday last Aug. Hwy 60 corridor was well maintained all the way to the western gate.

It is a very large national park with many things to visit and do. It has multiple camping sites with different styles. The camp sites are large enough for two 4 ppl tents and two cars plus a dining bench. It has multiple beautiful hiking trails, three biking trails and many lakes for swimming and canoeing. Canoes and bikes are available for rent with a reasonable price. It suits both kids and adults. It is possible to spend even one week in this park. In most of the park cell phone and data works. The campsites do not...
