Itās one of the shortest trail (2.1 km) of Algonquin Park and itās rated moderate level on its website.
My husband and I took our 20 months old toddler and had a good experience. It was our sonās first trail and I think he walked about half of it and my husband was holding him the other half. We stopped a few times for pictures and a quick snack and it took us just over an hour.
The trail has some up and down where our son had to be held but it also has quite a bit of fairly flat parts and boardwalk where our son was able to walk by himself. The rest was somewhat challenging but doable for our son since there were many areas with exposed tree roots. However, we went in the afternoon after some rain in the morning of so there were some muddy areas.
In terms of its scenery, the rapids were visible for about a half of the trail and the rest was just the forest. Also, I thought the rapids would have the water flowing faster like its name. š
Since we went at the end of July, the trail had many mosquitoes so I suggest anti mosquitoes solutions...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAn easy hike/walk through flat trails and some paved sections. We finished in about 40 minutes but it wasn't anything spectacular. The rapids were underwhelming and we didn't actually realize we had gotten to the "viewing" point.
The area was also extremely buggy. The flies and mosquitos were relentless! We had used a LOT of bug spray, unfortunately it didn't help all too much. I would blame this on the time of year so perhaps this is not a good summer time hike.
In all honesty, there are so many better trails in Algonquin Park, I would really just skip this...

It is harder to get through the hills. Parts of the trail are flooded but easy to avoid as people have made other paths. Recommend a tour guide booklet before walking to know what the numbered posts mean. You can get one for 50 cents at the west gate store if none are available at the start of the hike. Also, I just want to note Definitely not a "ugg hiking boot" trail as we seen others wearing these and...
