I've been going to Dagmar for 40 years. What I witnessed today was some the rudest behaviour I have ever seen. Except it wasn't just one person. It was multiple staff. As if some sort of curse fell over the place.
We were there for a school event. 100 children from the school. The instructors berated the children, and provided ZERO instruction even though the kids were supposed to receive a 1 hour lessen each week. A couple runs up the hill, here's your green sticker, get lost.
Literally, one of the instructors told an 11 year old kid to get lost.
I received proof of other instructors laughing at a couple kids that were too small to reach the safety bar on the lift, after the instructors jumped in the middle of a group that had a taller person. I am beyond furious with how the children were treated.
It doesn't stop there, one of the school teachers was told very rudely to move while trying to assist a child. When the teacher explained they were helping they were told this area is for paying customers. I guess $30,000 for 4 days of skiing doesn't buy you what it used to.
Bring it up to the manager you say? too busy to look up from their paperwork to be bothered to even listen to any concerns.
The service sucked last week, and they quadruple downed this week.
Way to kill a legacy. Everyone in that place should be ashamed of themselves.
Except the 2 ski patrols. They did an amazing job. Thank you for that.
I will be reaching out to the management to officially voice my concerns in the coming days, but felt that people should know how little they care about their customers. Be warned.
40 years of skiing at Dagmar, they will never see me again.
Edit..Interesting, leave an honest review of the terrible experience and then get accused of bullying. Take accountability for your poor service, accept that you can do better, and apologize. Pretending like I, or your other upset customers, are the problem and fabricating stories to spin it like I'm the bad guy is very telling of the culture you create there.
I an assure you I did not bully a single person, nor made anyone...
Read moreThis hill is a cash grab, with the worst customer service (Robyn at snow sports) I’ve ever experienced at any ski hill in Canada. More specifically, I am extremely disappointed that a local ski hill that markets itself as the “# 1 for family fun” provides poor booking advice and refuses to accept any degree of responsibility for their actions.
We booked 1-hour ski lessons for four kids. We were advised to book private lessons for the 3 and 4 year olds- great.
The problem is the 6 and 7 year old. We said that one of the kids had skied a few times before and was more experienced, and the other had never skied before. Subsequently, we were told they were the same age and would be booked for a semi-private together- sure.
At the lesson, after the first 5 minutes, I asked the instructor whether the more experienced 6 year old would learn anything in the lesson or if I should take her out of the lesson. He said to take her out and bring her with me on the chairlift - sounds good.
After the lesson, I went up to chat with Robyn at Snow Sports. I explained the situation and was taken aback by the blunt tone and refusal to accept any responsibility for the fact that 4 kids were booked for lessons today, and only 3 kids attended after speaking with the instructor. She said, “I never would have booked a semi-private if they weren’t the exact same level.” When I asked, “If I’m understanding this correctly, despite knowing that one child had never been on skis, and the other had gone several times before, there is no room for a conversation of refunding the second person in that lesson, who paid for a lesson but did not receive a lesson?”… she replied “absolutely not.”
No validation of the frustration of the situation, or a “let’s see what we can do”, or even an “I’m sorry but…”.
We spent $1000 today here between lift tickets and rentals and private lessons. Stay away from here to avoid disappointment and spend your...
Read moreI brought my 3 kids (8,7,5) on a Thursday morning. One lift was working, giving access to 5 runs, which itself isn't a problem. The problem is they charged full price to access less than a third of their runs. They offered a $10 off coupon for our next visit, and to add insult to injury, they only gave us 3 coupons. I guess my 5 year old was getting her money's worth ($20) with 1 lift working. All in, $253 for 1 adult, 2 kids and 1 little kid lift ticket and 2 snowboard rentals, for 4hrs. I'm fully aware that skiing/snowboarding isn't cheap, but I really felt we didn't get good value here, at all.
The food offered is mediocre, typical cafeteria food, nothing really shocking there. But the prices are exorbitant. $10 for burger and $7 for fries and gravy is a bit rich. If the food was really good quality the price would be easier to swallow, but it wasn't.
The runs that we did manage to get on (3, because the other 2 accessible runs were black diamonds) were in very good condition. The lift we could use was fast, old, and didn't really offer much leg support. The seat was fine for kids, but only about half my thigh was on the seat because it was so narrow. I was okay with that, if my wife was here, she'd hate it. The safety bar was also too heavy for my boys to drop so the attendant had to do it for them each time. The lift experience actually freaked my daughter out so much that after a few runs, she stuck to the magic carpet. Seeing as it wasn't busy at all, I'm not sure why they had to have the lifts running full speed.
Overall, not a great experience. Dagmar ought to consider offering a discounted ticket on a dead weekday with 1 lift running. Otherwise, it's just a blatant rip off. We...
