Listen, I love Lakeridge's slopes. They have good variety and challenging slopes and I learned and made my way up to Black Diamond here. If I had the money, I would come back here every year.
In 2022, they had a 3 night pass (Tues-Thurs) which was great, very affordable to me who worked 2 part time min wage jobs where I always worked weekends and didn't have the availability for an all day or all night pass. So this was a perfect option for me, and cheaper than Dagmar. The only thing that sucked was that they open weekends early December and don't open weekdays until Christmas holidays. It was annoying to wait longer when I had a pass, but nothing I could do. They also closwd weekdays after March break - also a surprise to me, but I just enjoyed my last day and shrugged it off.
In 2023, they removed their 3 night, 4 night, and 5 night passes and were experimenting this stupid tier system payment method, where they had limited tickets in the cheapest range, then moved up to tier 2 pricing after they sold their cheapest tier 1 tickets, then after tier 2 was sold they moved to 3. They only offered all night, weekdays only, or weekends. Since I missed early bird priving, the weekday pass as the cheapest was still about the same as Dagmar's cheapest - maybe a bit more, but I still found more value in going with Lakeridge than Dagmar's, which moved to about $400 by the time I was buying. Lakeridge's was about $425, and there was nothing I could do by that time, so I sighed and spent $200 more than the year previous to go to the place I preferred.
In 2024, I checked this time for March early bird sales. Dagmar had a great deal for any night pass at around the same price I spent for my Lakeridge 3 night pass 2 years before. And Lakeridge's "early bird deal"? THE SAME PRICE that I spent the previous year, at the tier 1 level. So basically not a deal at all. I later realized the reason must have been because they got in some fancy new 6 person chairlift, and probably needed ticket prices to be a bit higher to pay for that, recover their funds. I understood that, but I still went to Dagmar this season. The runs are repetitive, one of the chairlifts makes me sick, but the staff and even the clientele are friendlier, and even though it's smaller and less exciting, and hills easier, the vibe was just wonderful. But I still missed my Lakeridge hills.
Now in 2025, I checked again for early bird, and Dagmar had the exact same price as last year's pass I bought, down to the tax. And I bought it, because Lakeridge was even MORE expensive than the year before! That $425 for the cheapest pass is now $446 and the night pass is almost 2x the price of Dagmar's night pass. With tax their cheapest ends up being $200 more than Dagmar's cheapest. They didn't even falsely offer any early bird sales like last year, just skipping straight to that stupid tier system. My guess is that they're still paying off their fancy chairlift, but until their prices go down to affordable Dagmar levels, I will continue to enjoy my time at Dagmar and dream about Lakeridge's hills that I became so familiar with. Until I meet money, Lakeridge.
On another note, if you want to tube and want to avoid the lines, go at 7:30. We didn't go down once until 8:00, but at least people started to leave, their times having expired, and me and my best friend were basically arriving up top with the attendants waiting for us. We got in at...
Read moreI chose Lakeridge Ski Resort as I was a total beginner and I live close to the slopes. I decided to get a Season Pass as I knew I was going to be there a lot during the 2022/2023 season. As a total beginner, I thought it was important to get some lessons. So I signed up for the 7 week private lessons program.
I met Mike E. as part of my 7 week learning program at Lakeridge. After trying to snowboard a few times outside my lesson program, I realized there is a very "steep hill" ahead of me and quite frankly I was a bit scared. Mike gave me the fundamentals of snowboarding and his teaching approach was amazing. Despite my feelings and being scared to no end, Mike E. made me want to progress faster than I thought it was possible. He is a very patient instructor and his knowledge and teaching skills are very impressive. In a very quick time I graduated from the Magic Carpet and beginner hill to the ski lift and more advanced runs. I never thought I am going to master boarding and the frustration was quite obvious in the first few weeks. But then something magical happened... I started to lock neat turns and everything changed for me. Finally, the sport that seemed impossible and that haunted me for a few weeks became enjoyable and I got to the point where I could not wait to go back on the slopes. Under the guidance of Mike E. I am now able to fully enjoy this beautiful winter sport and I cannot wait to tackle longer, steeper runs. I fully recommend Mike E. to anyone that has second thoughts about starting this sport. One more thing, I am in my early 50's and I am completely in love with this sport. No matter how old you are, if you want to learn something, dream about it and do it. But like anything new, unless you are born to do that "new" thing, you need to learn the ropes. For this, Mike E. could be your instructor. FYI: There is a little pain in the learning process but it is all worth it. I cannot believe that in 7 short weeks I was able to move from zero to blue/black runs. And although some may comment that it is all about you, the snowboarder, I insist that having an Instructor that understands your needs, but also sees your limitations and knows how to handle them and guide you step by step in the right direction, it's crucial. I now call myself a "snowboarder" and this is in a very large part due to Mike E. Mike, you rock!
P.S. I like Lakeridge Ski Resort as the line-ups are normally much shorter than any other place. Going there as a single person, I got to meet a ton of nice people, including Lakeridge Staff (lifties, admin personnel, Ski Patrol, etc). If you need to make a decision about a Ski Resort in the Durham area, you may want to...

What a horrible experience! From the very first minute of walking into the resort! To be greeted in a friendly, cozy and happy manner is what you think you'd expect... Unfortunately, this was NOT the case at Lakeridge Ski Resort!!! They make the process feel rushed, the administration side was very unorganised struggling to locate your information even though it was already booked before coming into the resort! They give you minimal instructions and expect you to know what you are doing! Secondly, The rental department at Lakeridge Ski resort are very difficult to get a long with! We did not get greeted on walk in, with zero communication or direction! The staff at the rental department were grumpy with a very condescending tone! Zero customer service and lack of initiative on helping people! It was difficult on getting information and instructions on what we needed to do or where we needed to go along with zero help on what gear and equipment we needed to take and use! They give you very vague description and leave you to sort yourself out! Bearing in mind that some of us had zero to minimal experience! The first thing they did was shout and scream wait while we were trying to find information! That shout was heard across the whole room! Secondly, I ended up putting on snowboarding boots and as a first timer the person who pointed out that I had snowboarding boots sounded very imposing and not very friendly! Which was very embarrassing as basically the whole room heard that conversation as well! The worst bit was having to make us wait for our instructor who took 30 minutes to come and meet us in the freezing sub-zero temperatures of minus 10 degrees! Then the instructor started to rush things! Did not even consider asking what level of experience in skiing and started to proceed to tell not show how to use the equipment and expects you to know what you are doing from the start!
OVERALL, THIS PLACE IS NOT RECOMMENDED. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, RUSHED EXPERIENCE AND A PLACE YOU DO NOT WANT TO COME AS A...
