Shopping for luxury items comprises of two major components: the prestige and reverence of purchasing an authentic and beautifully crafted luxury item; and the shopping experience itself ā which, in large part, comes down to customer service. I am BEYOND impressed with the service I received from Rachel and Stella at Haute Classics. Iāve purchased many luxury items at many boutiques all around the world, and experienced many different levels of customer service (good and bad). I had been hesitant to dive into buying consignment, particularly online; however, when Haute Classics posted a pre-loved small leather good that I have been on the lookout for for some time, I reached out in hopes of being able to purchase it and to get an understanding on how the whole process works. Through a series of messages back and forth, Rachel was very patient, helpful and informative as I fumbled my way through my first Consignment purchase and my first etransfer transaction. My item was shipped quickly, and was very well packaged / protected and in better condition than Iād even expected! I'm a big believer in the idea that excellent customer service begets business growth & customer loyalty. With that said, I look forward to shopping with Haute Classics again, because this transaction was more pleasant than my recent in-store experiences at LV & Chanel boutiques. The impression I got through this transaction was that regardless of whether I was spending $10, $100, $1000, or $10000 ā I was receiving the same level of attention, care and service ā and this type of treatment is truly what makes luxury shopping fun and what makes Haute Classics stand out from the rest. Ā Ā Ā Read moreThough my bag sold quickly, I found the consignor process very cumbersome. I think they could really improve and simplify the process for a better seller experience.
1.) Payments are only made once a month by cheque (which they tell you in advance) but it doesnāt make sense. My bag apparently sold just after the payment cut off that month (they said), so I had to wait 5 weeks to get paid. They gave me a payment date and then instructed me to wait a few days after that date to pick up the Cheque. It could be mailed for a $2 fee, but based on their lack of notifications, I didnāt trust that. Also, electronic payment is far easier, less expensive, and should be available to all consignors for free. Currently, they only offer electronic payments to out of town consignors.
2.) My bag sold and no one notified me. I had to stalk their IG and website to see if/when they changed it to āsoldā. I then had to email them to confirm. Why not send a congrats email/text notifying the consignor of the sale and include details of when they can expect payment.
3.) Itās almost impossible to get someone on the phone.
4.) They should outline the consigner general terms/conditions on their website to avoid having to call, email, and ultimately book an appointment to go there...

My bag was listed as "layaway" in late Aug 2020 and I didn't hear back from them till mid Dec, so I sent them an e-mail asking when will I receive the money back as it has been 4 months, I was then informed that the buyer took a bit longer to pay off layaway due to pandemic, this is okay but shouldn't I be informed about that ??? They buyer paid off the items on Dec 4th but I have to wait for another 1.5 months to receive my money ? Yes I finally got the payment email on Jan 15th, 2021 at 11:59 pm The only payment option is CHEQUE due to the pandemic and they automatically took off 2 bucks from your cheque. Other consignment stores are paying via EMT or paypal which is way faster and safer!
Lastly, They will only tell your how much you will receive from the consignor's end then they marked up the price by 26-30 % (on my 2 items) and of course it will take longer to sell , I ended up dropping he price in order to sell! But they are still taking same amount of money. So there is not fixed percentage for their commission. It is entirely up to them!
I would never consign with Haute...
