Thetis lake offers you walking/moderate hiking destination with serene views. I went to Thetis lake trek on weekend but could not finish the whole trek (upper lake) due to stormy weather but whatever I saw offered me with beautiful spots, off trail tracks and beautiful view of lake all along. Most of the trail is soft ground with very few muddy patches with fishing spots available (fishing license required). Cliff jumping is prohibited and depth warnings can be seen at certain spots around the lake. In addition, lake seems mystical especially in rainy weather. It’s easily accessible from downtown through tran Canada highway no. 1 and if you want to take bus then no. 50 will drop you 1 km away from the lake (at Island Highway at Six Mile Road). You can either walk from there all the way to Thetis lake regional park (up hill walk) or take bus no. 53 which will drop you in the parking lot of the Park. Good luck to everyone and again thank you Victoria for such beautiful moments.

Be on the water or hiking in under 25 minutes from almost anywhere in Victoria. This is one of the South Island’s most scenic and accessible lakes to paddle, swim, or hike. If cycling, be sure to check which of the extensive trails are bike friendly- the “Galloping Goose Regional Trail” will let you cycle there from Victoria easily in under an hour and largely avoid city traffic- an easy day-trip. The unique layout of the lake means that if you start from the main beach and paddle past the two little islands, you’ll find a bridge narrow channel that opens up an entirely new section of pristine, private lake with plenty of picnic and swimming spots... makes you feel as if you’ve escaped to the wilderness. Electric motors are allowed, and parking fees are seasonal. The trail around the lake is easily hiked with plenty of ups and downs, but nothing too strenuous. Popular with dog walkers, yet surprising how quiet it can be in the early morning or in a light rain.

This Greater Victoria regional park is a forest, full of Douglas Fir and other trees. Most of the trees are large, though it is not old growth, having been logged about a hundred years ago. Two of the lakes are twinned, and one can canoe/kayak/raft from one to the other by passing under a bridge. There are lots of rugged trails around the lakes, with minor trails leading to isolated swimming spots. It is not safe for cliff diving anywhere. Be careful accessing the water for swimming. There can be steep dopoffs, murky watery, and tree debris hidden under the surface. Almost every year someone drowns, a non-local not accustomed to the lake. The safest place to swim is at the sandy beach, though there are no lifeguards. Some of the trails allow cycling. If you love to walk on rugged trails, and your well-behaved dog loves to swim and chase balls, this is the place to go.

👨👩👧👦Kid friendly. Tons of hiking trails!!👟 ⛱Both a public family beach and a beach for the dogs🐕🌊 to just go crazy at. Everybody out is super respectful during this covid-19 sadness. 🌞If it is a sunny day and you want a good spot where you can watch your kids in the water I do suggest getting there before 10. 🎣🏊♂️🚴♀️🧘♀️🎉🚣♀️ Great for biking kayaking canoeing all floating water activities. My suggestion is to drive up behind the main parking lot if you need to drop your kayak paddle boards or canoes and then come back down to the parking lot and walk back up Picnic tables and areas for BBQ. A clean bathroom and loss of crd staff watching about making sure that everything is good

What a great walk! Walked from my daughter's school and took the trails leading to Thetis Lake. We strolled everywhere we possibly could and we still didn't see it all. We walked a total of 8.5km and want to come back for more as this place has incredible views and certain places are just so quiet and tranquil. Never did find my daughter's class trip but we did find a pile of new memories and pictures worth taking. Highly recommended for the walking and kayaking but not necessarily the swimming as there are algae blooms and some type of scum on the water during different seasons. Seen plenty of people still fishing so....up to you.

We actually purchased our home because of it's close proximity to this gem of a location. Although this park can get busy in on the hottest days of summer, once parked there seems to be lots of room for everyone. Most of the rest of the year it is a peaceful oasis. The broad network of trails leave many choices for those looking to escape the business of life. For those that want to walk a dog, connect with a friend, build cardio, or take in quick break then the lower and upper lake loop trails are perfect for you. **Disclosure - I'm a little biased as this one is close to my home!
