This beach lives up to its name, it's actually quite sandy. It was reasonably empty which was great for the kids. Its close to Wawa, albeit down a gravel road. I initially drove in via Tremblay road which is north of the hwy 101 junction. That was is a few km of gravel road which should be fine in a passenger car. Leaving I found it better to use the way to Michipicoten harbour, the beach is past silver falls and is mostly paved with some gravel. You end up in the same place as Tremblay just...

Beautiful beach off the beatten path where A.Y.Jackson owned a cottage (it is now private property) and came up during summers to paint late in life. There is an amazing lady who offeres a 1 hour experience on AirBnB discovering the sites along the beach that inspired a number of A.Y. Jackson's paitings - must do if in the area, it is a treat. Road to the beach is not paved and somewhat rough tough, but there is a great lookout point nearby, and the sunsets...

great little beach a little off the beaten path outside Wawa, ON. Not far off the highway. Clean clear water, very sandy, unlike many Superior east & north shore pebble beaches. Shallow, so good for kids. Beach was clean and not many people. topic-like sand. One end of the beach near the creek is quite wide with lots of sand. the water is cool but that’s typical of Superior.

Not sure if there are restrooms. Come prepared to take care of yourself everything...

Lovely beach. Excellent information boards describing First Nation history, natural history of the beach, European history, local beach wildflowers, and local ship wrecks. Good access with plastic wood boardwalk across the sand dunes. Very clean. Parking for perhaps 50 cars. Space for 2 to 5 travel trailers or RV. Main access road was a bit rough (washboard).
