Great hike, and it is a loop. My 2.5 year old walked this entire hike with me. We started in the morning since about 2/3 of the hike is in direct sunlight. Since the hike is on either side of a canyon, the stronger water run off (mid May) allows a good cool breeze to be blowing upwards neark the hiking trail. We did the loop starting on the north side, which has a ton of shaded area and about 200 stairs. Then there are some switchbacks, not too steep but more exposed to sunlight. The loop has a number of lookour points from which you can view the canyon, waterfalls and river, Kelowna, Okanagan Lake. At the midpoint of the loop, the trail is level with the river woth a great shaded riverside spot for lunch (no benches or tables). After crossing the bridge, there are some more stairs and switchbacks. The path is a little narrow thers but people can pass each other. The south side of the loop was great as well, with some intermittent shade. The last little bit of the trail (above the parking lot) is more steep and has a risk of rolling pebbles and dirt, without a handrail. Overall, with my toddler and I did this is running shoes in about 2 hours and 15 minutes (including a 15 min lunch break).

This is not for the camping area, this is for the hiking trail across the road! Nice workout to start whether you do the stairs along the path to the right (approx. 147 of them) or if you head up the path to the left. Trail is a circle, with side paths to get you to view points and down to the water. The viewpoints on the north side of the canyon are better to see the waterfalls. Nice views of downtown Kelowna, the bridge and the lake from a bench on the south side of the canyon. In winter wear ice grips for traction, the far end of the canyon is shaded and can be very icy. Parking is available at the base and can be busy in the summer. There is toilet near the parking. Parking is closed off in the winter but you can park on the road on the lake side, just be mindful of the no parking signs and avoid that area. If you are unsteady on your feet or have difficulty walking, be careful as there is loose rock and gravel throughout and a couple sets of awkward stairs. This trail is an easy walk, up the stairs or up the hill will get your heart pumping but the rest is fairly flat.

This was our first weekend camping trip of the season, and with a new rig. It was turned out to be so enjoyable and the weather was stunning! Amenities provided here. Bathrooms with a shower, though we did have our own so never used them. We purchased extra firewood ($12/bundle) and noted that there was a seasonal beach rental shack (offering SUP, kayaks, etc) opening June 21, 23 for use. Further along into the summer and the water will be lovely for swimming or your favorite water sport! There are a mixture of sites available at Bear Creek; some back onto Bear Creek, Okanagan Lake, playgrounds or green space. We did find that it would've been nice to have a bit more privacy between us and the next site, though noted there were certainly some more private sites available. We also learned that there are a few sites will full hook ups. Bear Creek Provincial Park is across the street with over 5km of well-marked hiking trails, waterfalls All in all, a great first stay to kick off the season and we look forward to visiting again.

The park itself is beautiful, however the so called camp "hosts" were ridiculous. We had a 50th birthday party, all older professionals, and we were harassed multiple times during this trip by park staff. We had the entire park loop to ourselves and did multiple sound checks thru the evening. No music could be heard past the campsite itself, and voices were barely audible. There was no shouting, yelling, or loud music, yet the park staff hounded us multiple times and claimed we could be heard across the creek. We asked if there was a complaint, there wasn't. On the second night, they came by our site at 6pm while we were all sitting in our chairs around a fire, this time w one male staff, who upon being asked a single question, aggressively approached the questioner and began to make threats to call rcmp and have him thrown in the drunk tank. There was a picnic table between the male park staff and the person who asked the question, which is likely the only reason he didn't start a physical altercation w our group member. His aggression made several of the girls in our group very uncomfortable and fearful of walking about alone. I then asked ok please clarify the 10pm "quiet time" bc u seem to be asking for total silence. She replied no music whatsoever (no matter how quiet), no loud talking and no laughing. No laughing. We aren't an ignorant bunch, many of us shift workers for emergency services, and understand the need for quiet time, but this was being enforced to the point of ridiculous, essentially a curfew demanding utter silence. They then proceeded to drive past our sites every 15 to 20 mins w the vehicle lights turned off. Just after 10 we heard an unidentified voice behind a bush saying turn the music off. We had music on a cell phone, barely audible within the campsite itself, verified by video i took (without letting anyone know i was taking it). I've stayed in many provincial parks before , including this one, and have never been harassed like this, and I have never felt unsafe. I'll never go back this park, especially if that man is working there. They were looking to create problems, and their aggressive behaviour will cause huge issues this summer with younger crowds. I dont recommend this park anymore, and bc parks will be receiving several letters...

Good for city slickers but not for quality camping. Overall rating (close to 5) is not an accurate reflection of the quality of camping experience. See below for pro's / con's:

Pro's - clean site, many workers during the day to execute work, sites appear to have new gravel, great access to the parks own green space, picnic tables, large water access / gravel beach. about 10-15 minutes away from west Kelowna / grocery store / shoppers drug mart. Sani dump across the street.

Con's - Sites a very close together, although for how close they are they did a good job with brush there is very little privacy, road that runs by is above and next to a hillside to vehicles (many loud) can be heard in the entire campground at all hours. I'd consider this a higher probability (my own opinion here) for a chance of less considerate neighbors in the campground i.e. loud, abundance of generators, booming stereos. No service hook ups (no power / no sewer)

Conclusion - If you are traveling FROM out of town and looking for a true camping experience I recommend a site farther away from town. If you are looking for a convenient location while visiting Kelowna - this would serve well. while the site is well run, its in the highest rate for the provincial parks and "full service" doesn't refer to power or sewer on your site (there is none) . I could see this being a convenient outdoors experience only minutes away for some who...

I have camped at many parks.. with great staff and ammonites. i just arrived at bear Creek.. beautiful. A great river. Lake front and beach . Great trials..But cold showers and the hand dryer in the bathroom does not work . Nor are their paper towels to dry your hands .Several people have expressed thier concerns including me. No one wants to take a cool warm shower with the weather the way it is. Especially when when its 35 dollars a night to camp. ' Yesterday I took that cold shower . I expressed my concern s again. Only to be greeted by a woman that runs the campground with no customer service.. and extreme rudeness. Yelling from inside the trailer that her and her partner reside in.. later the couple were deliving wood .i approached golf cart .the customer was taking wood out of the back.. . She told me 8 pieses for 10. I said I want to pick my own . She said no . And with a raised voice ..she said he is helping me. meanwhile the customer picked wood and loaded His arms with 12 to 14 prices of wood ?? I have worked my whole life. . 5 years back I had severe trauma and 2 years ago I got hit by a motorcycle while on a pedel bike . Now I am on disability. I feel in my heart that thar person has a severe problem with people on disability and a hatered towards native people .. if it was not for customers . Their...
