Extensive system of trails from very easy to quite steep and narrow with loose rock. Many ways to access the trails with some well marked and many off-shoots that can be confusing. You can park off of Westlake Road or access at the end of Rosewood Drive which takes you past the new water treatment plant under construction and on the dirt road to the lake/reservoir which supplies water for much of West Kelowna. There is a marked parking lot used by many cyclists marked "Rose Valley Trails Parking" which is a ways before you reach the end of the street otherwise street parking. There are other paths through the neighborhoods surrounding but they are unmarked. Have never tried to access off of Rose Valley Road to the north - so not sure how that works. If you plan to do the loop around the lake, using a map on your phone or other guidance is recommended - it is a long hike and easy to get lost. There are some great views from many of the trails. To get access to the lake for swimming, you will either want to walk the access road at the south end of the lake or hike in from the northeast where there is a flat beach. The west side of the lake is quite steep as is the southeast side. This is a popular mountain biking spot, so watch for cyclists. None of the trails are exclusive for bikers, but there are directional arrows on some to direct the flow of bikers. Sundays tend to be busier in season as families take hikes together, but during the week you can encounter few people especially on the more remote trails. There are no toilets on the trails. Please remember to leave no trace and keep your dogs under...
Read moreWe did the city on the edge of forever hike. It was ranked Hard. However I do not rank this hike as hard. Yes they are some steep points but it is very manageable. The whole hike was around 3 hours with lots of stops for snacking and pictures. It was around 17T steps. The trail is very well maintained but you must have a map because it is not marked well and you can’t find the view point without the map. You need to share the road with bikers which they go really fast so be careful on the trail. The hike itself was perfect lots of interesting points on the was to the top and the view on the top was perfect. I really...
Read moreGreat hiking area within the city limits of West Kelowna. Lots of trails that can lead you to spend hours if you choose or get lost. I would give it 5 stars if the trails were marked better. Too many smaller trails branching off which can cause a hiker to become lost. If you are able to find the bench at the top of the hill on the yellow trail, you will experience a wonderful scenic view of both Kelowna and West Kelowna...great picture...
