One of the best museums I have visited anywhere ever. The Johnson family shares their history and artifacts with great generosity to the public. I was in awe to stand before the regalia and feel the power of these pieces wash over me. You can stand inside a tiny trappers cabin and imagine wintering in such a space. George Johnson's car is immaculate after decades of service in the north. The complex mixing of cultures, both Tlingit and European, had me question my assumptions in powerful ways. Life wasn't easy for George Johnston and those who lived inland Yukon during those days before modern amenities but he certainly was impressive with his desire to learn and master new skills and make life better for those around him.
