Great place to view Dawson City from above! You can see town, the confluence of the Klondike and Yukon River, the historical gold mining area along the Bonanza River, and way off into the mountains. Bring a jacket, it's usually windy and cool on top of the Dome! Great place for viewing the northern lights in the fall. There is a big gathering here on the night of the summer solstice. On the very peak of the dome, there is a large wooden bench to relax on. Parking is available for several vehicles. Caution: It's a steep windy drive, and isn't plowed in the winter. While I was there watching the northern lights past midnight a couple vehicles packed with tourists roared up, stopped in the way of other vehicles, kept their engines idling, and loudly ran up the dome chattering excitedly and loudly, kind of killed the whole mood of the peaceful night.
