Yongtai Turtle City (Yongtai Gui Cheng)

Built during the Song Dynasty (960-1279) Originally called "Wuchuan City" (Turtle River City) Served as a military stronghold and trading center
Features:
Turtle-shaped City Walls: The 1.5-kilometer-long city walls are arranged in an irregular hexagon that resembles a turtle. Fortified Towers: The walls are dotted with 17 fortified towers, each with a distinct style. City Gates: There are five city gates that provide access to the city. Tianfu Pagoda: A 17-meter-tall seven-story stone pagoda built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Historic Streets: The streets within the city are lined with traditional buildings and shops. Zhengjiang Temple: A temple that was built during the Song Dynasty and is dedicated to the god of war.
Significance:
One of the best-preserved ancient cities in Fujian Province. Important example of Chinese military architecture. Cultural heritage site with a rich history.
