Yongtai Turtle City (Yongtai Gui Cheng)

Location: Yongtai County, Fujian Province, China

History:

Built during the Song Dynasty (960-1279) Originally called "Wuchuan City" (Turtle River City) Served as a military stronghold and trading center

Features:

Turtle-shaped City Walls: The 1.5-kilometer-long city walls are arranged in an irregular hexagon that resembles a turtle. Fortified Towers: The walls are dotted with 17 fortified towers, each with a distinct style. City Gates: There are five city gates that provide access to the city. Tianfu Pagoda: A 17-meter-tall seven-story stone pagoda built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Historic Streets: The streets within the city are lined with traditional buildings and shops. Zhengjiang Temple: A temple that was built during the Song Dynasty and is dedicated to the god of war.

Significance:

One of the best-preserved ancient cities in Fujian Province. Important example of Chinese military architecture. Cultural heritage site with a rich history.

Tourism:

In 2015 I was flying to participate in the printmaking exhibition "Printing Marks and Codes", in Chongqing, China. Through the airplane window I was making photos of the Gobi desert. And i "found" some ancient town in the deser, near mountains. It was built in ideal city plan: town has four gates to the east, west, south and north. I was asking of my chinese friend what the name of the city. nobody can't say. And after 8 years I was wathing the documental movie about the Great Wall of China, and they were talking about one town in the desert. It was "my town". Now I know the name of it - "Yongtai...

It was a great town. I was visiting and taking pictures of the surrounding areas until i saw a weird hole on one if its walls. I saw a giant muscular face without skin. People were trying so hard to not let the sun shine on it for some reason....
