北海老街——珠海路是一條有一百多年曆史的老街，始建於1883年，長1.44公里，寬9米，沿街全是中西合璧騎樓式建築。 這些建築大多為二至三層，主要受19世紀末葉英、法、德等國在我市建造的領事館等西方卷柱式建築的影響，臨街兩邊牆面的窗頂多為卷拱結構，卷 拱外沿及窗柱頂端都有雕飾線，線條流暢、工藝精美。 臨街牆面部不同式樣的裝飾和浮雕形成了南北兩組空中雕塑長廊。 這些建築臨街的騎樓部分，既是道路向兩側的擴展又是鋪面向外部的延伸，人們行走在騎樓下，既可遮風擋雨又可躲避烈日；騎樓的方形柱子粗重厚大，頗有古羅馬 建築的風格。
