慕田峪 长城 or Mù tián yù Great Wall. It is one part of the great wall of China named Mutianyu. To go to this section there are no train routes or public buses. You must rent your own vehicle or take a tour that opens the tour route to this section. The tour fee is 560RMB including a minibus and lunch vehicle and a tour guide.

Because of this part of the wall of China is relatively quiet by visitors when compared with other parts that are connected by public transportation.

The journey to go up is given 2 choices if you want to walk up to the top until the Mutianyu point goes more or less for 40 minutes up the stairs. Or you pay 150RMB round trip to go up and down with a Cable Car that takes about 10-15 minutes. Mutianyu Point is located at an altitude of 2,067 feet or about 689 meters above sea level until it reaches the highest part of the Mutianyu great wall and the furthest limit that visitors can visit. The distance from the Mutianyu point to the highest and final section is about 3 miles or 4.5km. But you need 2 to 3 hours to reach the place.

Right at the top, there is a mother who sells a metal medal for 20RMB that you have reached the highest peak of the great wall today and engraved the name and date. Engraved with nails and if you want to make it better you can re-engrave with the engraving machine after you return.

If you visit Mutianyu in December, you will see a walk along the snow-covered wall above. You have to be careful when walking there because...

Was told that there are 3 Great Wall locations in Beijing. Out of these 3, this is the best for those with kid and elderly. There are cable car or cable way ( choice one only as there operate by different companies) to the peak.

I selected cable way as the ticket include slides to get down from the peak to the bottom.

Sat sun and mon are crowded days. Other days are very quiet.

The slides is fun !

PS: cat lover , pls bring some sneaks for kitten at Great Wall! They...
