A wonderful park with terrific views of the Beijing area. BUT, do NOT come here on a sunny Saturday, unless you like to deal with a two-mile traffic backup, and wading through crowds of thousands just to get to the entrance gate. We biked here, which is definitely recommended, as I have no idea where you would park.

Once you get off the station you have to walk a bit to the main gate (and there are a few). Be prepared to walk a lot. It's not like mountains and trekking in Europe. Read moreA very nice place. I have been there both in summer and autumn. It is very busy in autumn. Supposedly you are able to see red mapple leaves, however, everyone tries to pick one. Assuming that there are millions doing it, there are very few leaves left. In summer there are a lot less people and, if there is no smog, you can see the entire city.
