A tour company booked my family of 5 along with many other American guests at this hotel. This hotel and the tour group knew that I had a family of 5 and they knew the ages of everyone because they check you in and copy your passports. I had 3 teenagers and 2 adults parents split between 2 rooms that only had 1 king bed in each room. How does that make any sense? Teenagers don't like to sleep with their parents nor each other. I asked for 2 double beds in each room or 2 queens but they didn't have any or chose not to give any to us. Yes we had an "office area" but I don't need an office area when I have a family of 5, I need space for a couch or a roll out bed or cot which they did not have. We had to squatter style stay at this hotel for 3 nights. Even though I asked for the tour company and hotel to address this issue, they didn't. During this stay, I also asked several times to just get the proper number of towels to our room - 1 towel for each person... that's only 5 towels total but everyday I had to request for additional towels. During the stay we did not have enough beds and they didn't compensate with enough bed covers/ blankets either. Listen I'm from California and it is about 40 degrees in Beijing in November and it was cold, kids pull on blankets and tuck it under them and how can I blame them because the heat never worked so we made due with 1 covered blanket per room and I used the blow dryer to warm our room as much as we could before sleeping.. We were generally uncomfortable and very cold at this hotel. ||||Things are way different in China. In this hotel, you also cannot take photos or videos particularly on the 2nd floor even though it is open to people. There is no souvenir shop or gift store to buy things. It was a weird hotel and I wouldn't recommend it for families or people who want to feel catered to. It was boring, bland, robotic, careless with its guests and I didn't enjoy my stay there. It's the small things that matter. ||||By the way, if you are a non-pork eater... good luck eating anything. Even the fried rice had bits of pork in it. Figuring out what you are eating for breakfast is a brainbuster - as the descriptions/ names are in Chinese and no one really speaks English in the breakfast/ dining room to answer general questions like what is this? what are the ingredients or what am I eating? So we were reluctant to try things but wanted to. Also, the breakfast place doesn't open until 6:30 AM which is bad, if you have a tour picking you up at 6:00 AM. The lunch and dinner dining room pricing is way overpriced. ||||On the last day we were there, maintenance crews were doing construction and ripping out all the carpeting on our floor, so the dust, debris and tacky material that was coming up from the floor/ carpeting was all around us. I wish we were informed of it or they waited until we left our rooms to do that work. This showed me a lack of thoughtfulness to guest experiences and customer service to let us know and making us tread across that. Something like this -- I doubt would have happened at a Hilton.||||The good news is that the front desk will exchange $200 per person per day into yuan at a reasonable exchange rate - better than the banks and airport. Other good news is that the valet who gets cabs for you will do their best to make sure that you get to where you need to go. You absolutely still need a good translator app when in China though.||||If you have no choice and must stay here because your tour company has forced you to, then beware of these or similar things to encounter but if you have the freedom to select something...

Bathroom excellent except for leaking shower (something we experienced throughout our stay) with bath and plenty of hot water.
