Yanqi Lake — Attraction in Beijing

Yanqi Lake is situated in the north of Beijing. Not very far from it. May reach there by car within an hour or so. It is a scenic area with beaitiful landscape, picturesque surroundings and rich flora and fauna. The name Yanqi means safe haven for swans. This is literally true as swans and geese come here frequently during autumn and spring. It is spectacular to see them flying or swimming. There is natural park around the lake. A beautiful lake, a little bigger than I thought. You can ride a bike and circle the lake if you want, that could be a nice exercise. Many rental places around the lake too, so it's not difficult to get one. There's also an amusement park near by if you are into that. And the hills will be lighted up in the night, not quite beautiful but that's still something... If you are living in Beijing, this place could be a nice choice for a weekend...
