Dalad Xiangshawan Tourist Area — Attraction in Dalad Banner

Sort of a theme park within a dessert, Xiangshawan is a must for all visitors to Inner Mongolia. Here you have a water theme park, a swimming pool, monster truck rides, camel rides, sand dune slides, cable car and ski lifts. The camel rides admittedly was quite the letdown, long queue just for a 3 mins ride, all in a row. Very lame. The sand slides though were very exciting though. Suggestion: don’t dig your hands into the sand per the instructions of the staff. Just let it rip!

There’s so much to see, do and experience that it’s better if one can stay overnight in the hotel inside its ground. My one day visit was packed with roaming the sun dunes, camel riding, sand surfing, watching a grand performance of a Mongolian wedding, appreciating the vastness of the desert on a train...
